“The Good Ol’ Days…”

I’ve waited as patiently as possible and now the day is here. I’ve finally got a quality version of “F*ck Yall,” the lead single from DJ Quik and Kurupt’s Blaqkout, which leaked via DJ Nik Bean’s Streetz of L.A. 7 mixtape. For lack of fair judgement, I stapled my lips closed to avoid the speaking on the terrible radio rip I’ve had for a month or so, but now they’re wide open.
Sorry, but I’m not impressed.
The Rhythmalism-esque guitar brings me back to better days, but other than that, the song is Bobby Bland. Not by today’s tumultuous standards, but by the Compton producer’s outerspace range of talent. The drums hit perfect and Quiksta’s verses sound polished (especially after hearing Kurupt spout off ’shit’ and ‘bitch’ every line…), but this single is far from radio-ready. Instead of “Pitch In On A Party,” “Tonite,” or even “We Can Freak It,” what we’ve got is an angry song over a fly beat. The pieces just don’t fit.
On top of the mismatch, in this so-called extended version, Quik takes shots at every member of his former crew. Hi-C. 2nd II None. Even AMG, the second half the of the short-lived Fixxers, gets some hot sauce. Not even justifiably, either. All his former comrades get is one measly line. A lifetime worth of family, friendship and beautiful music, down the tubes in less than five seconds.
It’s ironic too, because his Skanless crew would’ve sounded right at home over this shimmering beat.

That was woeful, sounds so 1995.
lol @ “woeful”
Dude. Stonewashed jeans. Taking it back.
Is that dude in the backround walking by you, Gotty?
Does anyone know if Frank’s Shoe Shine is still in business?
I could be wrong, however, the dude walking past is Consequence.
Truly, quik comes across so bipolar sometimes.
I love the guy and the music he’s made, but IMHO one minute he’s depressed, then angry, then happy, one minute he likes someone then he hates them.
I spose there is prolly more to it as well…….
I was disappointed by this track, I think a large part of which is that I don’t and never have really felt Kurupt on the mic, and that this was a load of hot negative garbage…
…..onceagain the reminder that he may be past him prime, is rearing its head!
yeah kurupt ruined this song…this beat is hard as fuck.
Quik is gonna come thru & verbally lash all of you lol.
Gotty™ Says:
Quik is gonna come thru & verbally lash all of you lol.

^^^
But then he’ll be friends with us again.
And then he’ll hate us again.
And all the while the beats will be somewhat lackluster….
i disagree this beat is pristine especially after trying to adjust my ears to tollerate that fixxxers bull shit.
Quik is gonna come thru & verbally lash all of you lol.

I still remember that shit, when he dropped a comment on here. Pure Comedy. lol.
i guess i’m late, but why is there beef?
Quik dropped a comment on here? Hilarious! What did he say exactly?
I live In San Diego and think Dj Quik is a highly underrated producer but this song just sucked, as a most stuff in ‘09 so far. All I have seen in the first 1/4 of 2009 is crappy online mixtapes. We had alot of Vets in the game put out an album in 2008 that had good moments just to get washed away by autotune. Damn I’m 32, is my age?
Instantly on my playlist.. I love me some Kurupt and I love me some quick.. May not be the most amazing song they could’ve came up with, but i’d rather listen to this then alot of bullshit out right now..
