Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede have more than their fair share of material, as evidenced by their pretty extensive discog. But if you speak the name “Camp Lo” to fans, “This Is It” is the first thing that 91% of them will say back.

One of my favorite duo’s in Hip-Hop.
I offer up this rare gem…
Gotcha Remix feat. Tyler Woods (Prod by. Ski)
http://www.divshare.com/download/6764402-68e
Hip-hop in the same vein as Ultramagnetic, De La, Digable, Wu, and other crews w/ their own dialect…meaning only understanding 35% of what they’re saying 1/2 the time is perfectly acceptable.
Timeless.
I see you, OED lol.
John Mayer & Hiphop
LETS DO THIS, KANYE.
“Where Kanye blazed trails with his singing on “808 and Heartbreak”, I have decided to cross over into hip hop. ”

Camp Lo Dope Very Very Underrated
“Coolie High” always been my favorite.
LOL @ Amp
No diggity.
Hell mothafukken yeah. Finally get my hands on a decent inst for Luchini. I seen they’re playin at SXSW on the 19th too. That’s what’s up.
@Amp You r d fucking man for that Gotcha remix. I’ve been lookin’ for that shit for years.
LOL @ OED
LOL No doubt. Took me years to find it myself & I figured I wasn’t the only one.
@ OED: Real talk, even if you only comprehend 35% of it LOL!!!
A Camp Lo post is always welcome in the Howser household….
@ Amp… thought I had everything they had to offer, but you have amazed me with that remix… thanks.
Dammit… I can’t even rap, and I want Ski to produce my debut album. Dude is slept on.
so glad jigga didn’t get his hands on luchini… got sick to my stomach when i found out the lo were performing at sxsw… gotta work that nite…
As perfect as Luchini is, I always wonder what would have happened to the beat if Jay-Z did take it.
Are you serious?? Jigga circa mid-90′s over the Luchini instro would’ve been classic.
BLAZe iz a camp lo fan….shhhhhh, I try to put my nigz on but it dont work….
Anyone have Camp Lo’s version of “Feelin’ It” by chance… I thought I had that on my HD but I guess not.
i have always wpndered how the lo album would have sounded with those “reasonable doubt” tracks they lost…

Shit would’ve been cRaZy.
More Blaxploitation on LSD.

Lo was always talented, and about 4 or 5 “WTF he say’s?”, and “HUH’s?” away from more notoriety. Methinks their weed was just a tad bit too good to come down to the average listener’s range of comprehension….

But that 70′s slanguage puts you in the right mode for the album. The lyrics coupled with the blaxploitation soundtrack makes Uptown Saturday Night unlike anything out there.
^ true…
definitely a one of a kind album.
You think the production makes Uptown Saturday Night then say…De La Soul Is Dead?
You think the production makes Uptown Saturday Night more accessable then say…De La Soul Is Dead?
*fixed
De La Soul Is Dead
——————-
^ Well, they were on the EXTRA good weed lol.
IMO, probably so, Amp. The soulfulness of Camp Lo’s production was definitely more accessible than Prince Paul/Plug fusion, but De La definitely walked that tightrope of different musical inputs as well as anyone could ever/has ever.
But De Lals production shouldn’t be devalued. SUMN worked, b/c the legions of De La stans ran pretty deep…
Interesting theory. Add that to the fact, Camp Lo’s lyrics had a focus being there was a 70′s theme to them as an act. Sorta like how the Wu adapted the whole Kung-Fu thing as their schtick. De La had that on “3 Feet High..” with the D.A.I.S.Y. age, but abandoned it on DLSID, kinda leaving them without that underlying focus.
kinda leaving them without that underlying focus.

the whole focus of DLSID:
skits: we’re not nerds, we’re just different
songs: we’re serious artists – fcuk the gimmicks.
Not sure if that was enough for some, but being a Rakim stan versed in lyric decoding, I dug the LP very much.
^ I liked it too, don’t get me wrong lol. It’s just an album that requires some active listening (What up, MZ).
requesting curtis mayfield’s “trippin out” from one of you divsharigans… or throw it up as a daily funk post… used for “black nostaljack…
To all the soul brothers ! Lowa’s got a new joint droppin the 24th, I believe.Check ughh.com.
Luchini is one of my favourite joints to drop at a party, my issue with it tho is I never know how to mix it in other than just dropping it, the intro is unconventional, fucks with me every time.
