If you don’t know the name Tone Tone, you will.
For the past year or so, little homie has gotten more radio love here than any other Detroit rapper. The original version of “Jockin” has been in heavy rotation for months and this version will only add more chicken heads to his jock. For good reason, too. The 808-heavy beat is steady knockin.’ The Zoe-sampled hook is cut-up perfectly. Tone drops his clever syllables quite precisely. Plus, Ace Hood actually comes hot.
It might be a little too much swag for my personal taste, but this mid-level-money remix to “Jockin” is definitely whip-certified.

I’m surprised….I thought the ‘D’ was full of lyricists like Royce, EM, Slum Village, Black Milk, & Guilty Simpson. This just messed my head up in terms of expectations from Detroit.

Still, I can dig Tone. “What Up Doe!” is the jam, and everyone of those rappers you listed above will tell you the same.
