Not The Same.

Just when I thought Twista had gone and totally redeemed himself with “Wetter (Make It Wet Pt. 2),” he decides to go and fuck it all up.

Lord have mercy on my soul because I’m about to get wicked.

When I saw he recruited Busta for his new single “Billionaire,” I was actually kind of excited to listen. Even after I scoffed at the track title, I thought maybe, just maybe, these two would give up the mediocrity and ignorance for five minutes and just rip the track to shreds. Two of the most talented rappers ever, going back and fourth with the double-time chop suey flow, murdering mics like only they can.

Then I heard Ron Browz. Then, I heard Twista start to rap slow, through Auto-Tune nonetheless. Then I heard Busta rhyme how much money he makes, via his latest foray in waste management.

Then I puked.

“Billionaire”? Are you fucking serious, Twista? I know you got a legitimate catalog, but it isn’t making up for the diarrhea you dropped the past two albums. You don’t sell records. You don’t have hits. You don’t break artists. You’re not a millionaire, let alone a billionaire. Truthfully, you might as well flip your name because you left your entire style back in 2002. On Adrenaline Rush 2010, your equivalent to Dumb and Dumberer, you screwed up and dumbed down your style and guess what, the majority of your fans hated it. Now, to make up for it, you use Auto-Tune? Is that a joke? Dog, you had the sickest flow on the planet, so why the fuck are taking up terrible trends after they’ve already been beaten to death?

Yes, I know this version was apparently stolen from the studio, but it doesn’t even matter if it’s unfinished. You can’t turn trash to gold via some mastering.

On this leak, Twista actually says, ‘When you trying to be a billionaire ain’t no time for you to play.’ If he really believed that, he’d stop his current free fall by not giving in to what the tasteless radio zombies jerk off to. Through his own creative and original style, he’s already established a fan-following most rappers would kill for. The thing is that every time he turns his back on them by delivering mediocre monstrosities like “Billionaire,” he loses another true fan like me.

Stop selling yourself short, Twist.

You can’t afford it.
