Often cited as the official 10th member of the Wu-Tang Clan, Cappadonna has managed to have a noticeable solo career without a direct support line from the group’s core members. Perhaps this feeling of disdain is motivation for his latest LP, the ridiculously titled Slang Prostitution. The album’s feature interludes exhibit a composed Cappadonna confirming his affinity to God and his desires to rise above all who’s done wrong against him. And while sticks and stones may not be able to keep “A Good Man Down,” poor beat and track selections will surely plunder a rap album into the pits of hell.
It’s not that Cap’s unorthodox stylings are the totalitarian behind the album’s downfall. His contributions on classics like “Winter Warz” and “Ice Cream” have established his purpose in Hip-Hop music. It’s the high volume of imbalance and lack of personality that’s induced from Slang Prostitution that makes a great deal of the tracks basically unlistenable. The feeble attempt of walking down memory lane “Do You Remember?” comes off as disentraced as does the played-out rap game/crack game innuendo “Hustle & Flow.” And aligning C and D-lister MCs only lead to more monotony as heard on the dixieland downer “Somebody’s Got To Go.”
While it was obviously not in the budget, things do pick a bit with assists from more ambitious guest stars and production. The album’s best cut arrives in the form of “Life’s A Gamble” which features a sinister composite of murky bass streaming through a river of illuminating chimes and lively vocals from Raekwon and Ratchet. Even Cappadonna diversifies his flow, obviously inspired by the precedence the track sets. Unfortunately, moments like this are overshadowed by redundant backdrops (“Savage Life,”) choppy verses (“That Staten Island Shit,”) and inane filler (“What’s Really Up”) that ultimately prove impossible to overlook.
At album’s end, it’s clear that Cap’s in high spirits and “You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down” (the same skit appears twice,) but this outing’s simply not going to get the job done. He may be still willing to spit game, but Cappadonna’s going to have to look for a new angle if he’s going to be successful in pimping the system.

I liked “Life’s A Gamble” better when it was just Rae’s verse and the beat rode out for another 2 minutes or so…either way, this review hits the nail on the head.
he really has The Last Meal depicted on one of his medallions for his chains…lol
Damn, so this album was worse than “The Cappatilize Project” that he put out in ’07??? Slang Prostitution actually isn’t that bad of a title, I think he’s referencing GhostFace’s line from the song “’97 Mentality”.
Damn Donna…. say it ain’t so!
Wu-Tang sales and appreciation will increase ONLY if they are honored in this year’s VH1′s Hip-Hop Honors. It’s getting close to their time.
If only this had been a vocal album…

apparently, KiD CuDi got tased & arrested at a Reebok All-Star Game party. Reebok’s people weren’t too keen on KiD CuDi wearing Jordans on stage; as a result, a fight happened, yaddayaddayadda

@STRIZZY
it’s just a word. i know that rza’s career is behind him. but let me see raekwon’s new album, dude!! thx
This ninja is trash and has always been! His shining moment was his verse on “ice cream”! I would much rather hear Gucci Mane honestly!
^ actually, his long-winded killer verse on “WInter Warz” was classic, & “Slang Editorial” the 1st single off of his 1998 debut album “The Pillage” was dope too
other than that….lol
This is a good album. LOL @ “C and D listers”…. who gives a f*ck who features on an album. I guess you’d rather keep rap albums running the course with a feature on every song and a t-pain/akon track on every album.
^^^
It’s not about who’s on the record, it’s about the quality they bring, and those mofos on this album contributed to nada but filled time slots.
So you don’t like the album.. big fucking whoop. That doesn’t mean anything other than you yourself did not like it. If you’re so proud to have an opinion you can at least attribute something to it other than vague bullshit. This applies to.. pretty much all of you faggots. I bet you fags are all drooling at the mouth waiting for whatever trendy bullshit to pop up on twitter.
And before you hazy-minded stoner fags try to pull a straw man, I have not even listened to this album.
Cappadonna’s first album was decent; it just wasn’t a classic like Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords or 36 Chambers. I had that shit when it first dropped back in 98′. But Cappadonna is broke for real. I just rode the Greyhound bus from Manhattan to Baltimore with him yesterday. You would never catch Ghost or Rae riding the Greyhound because they got dough and have decent rap careers still. I looked at him hard for a second and he looked at me like “oh shit this nigga recognize me”, but I didn’t say shit because I ain’t no washed-up rapper’s groupie. I didn’t know if it was really him at first until I seen him rocking the same old ass red Avirex leather he was wearing in recent photos on the google image search.
