Let’s hear it for the boy, Flo Rida as he just made history (again) for most digital song downloads in a seven day period with “Right Round,” the first single off his sophomore album R.O.O.T.S. (Routes Of Overcoming Struggle) with a staggering 636,000 according to the Nielson Soundscan. It coincidently breaks the previous record he set a little over a year ago with the T-Pain featured “Low” by over 200,000 sales. According to Billboard, the whooping figure also wipes out the record set of opening week downloads by Eminem’s 50 Cent’s latest snorefest, “Crack A Bottle.”

Here’s where all this historic Hip-Hopness gets bittersweet.

Flo Rida, while undoubtedly talented with a stellar debut under his belt and the apparent heir to Nelly’s platinum Pop empire, didn’t really deliver anything incredible with this one. It’s merely your run-of-the-mill sample jack (80′s drag-queen anthem “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)” by Dead Or Alive) accompanied with a cheesy chorus. And with the labels still trained in the methods of following the money, expect more diluted danceables to be infiltrating the airwaves in the near future.
