Pretty much. Just a few days after Charles Hamilton released Well Isn’t This Awkward, he decided to drop off another tape in honor of his 1000th post on his blog and the Rise of Charles Hamilton. He also gave a track by track run down of WITA, so check that if you’re interested.
Say what you will, but many moons ago, I tried to warn you that C.Ham was a workhorse & far more determined than a lot of these rappin cats. Aside from characters named Gucci & Max, previously Wayne, nobody has put in this type of Tupacian work aside from young Charles. Will it all be special? Prolly not. But will it satiate his core fans & provide at least a few noteworthy tracks? Yes indeed, as what he has it what a few of the aforementioned didn’t in that he’s respectable on the mic.

Teef – I did indeed want to use it, but I only like to use it when a cat compels me to. Young Ham has done that. All NYC cats should be somewhat grateful b/c no matter how “great” his & Max’s tapes are, at least they’re showin that they aint lazy & can keep up w/some of these South aggins.

Man Gotty, you hit the nail on the head with Gucci. Dude drops a new tape damn near every week. I was driving my mom’s car when she came up to visit a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t have any cd’s with me so I turned on the radio for the first time in damn near a year. This dude Gucci was on at least 1 out of every 3 songs played in the 2 hours that I was in the whip. It was amazing.
Shit, Gucci’s locked up & still got more work than a lot of these cats that are free.

When you release so much music it suggests that the overall quality is weak. That’s how I see it. There might be a gem here and there but you have to wade through a ton of shit to find it. Shit’s annoying.

Charles Hamilton is dope as fuck.
Totally creative in his production style which mixes completly different genres of music, yet stays grounded in hip hop. And CH is mad real with his emotional content. Not your typical flossy fronting. He confronts his terrible childhood on Pink Lava Lamp unlike any artist since Eminem.
I am developing alot of respect for this young cat, especially considering he keeps doing his thing on a prolific basis with fresh mixtapes in the face of the overwhelming hate he gets from heads that are judging him without an open mind.
Everyone complains that rap has gotten wack lately, yet when a young artist comes into the game with fresh perspective displaying incredible skills, all he gets a bunch of ignorant hate?
And why? Simply because he identifies with some old video game character and the color pink has special meaning for him? Oh yeah, he had the nerve to say he didnt want to be compared to Soulja Boy. Such great reasons to hate.
SMH in disgust.
I like Charles Hamilton. Not only does he release a ton of free music that is a bajillion(literally a bajillion) times better than whatever autotune poop Lil Wayne shits out, he incorporates Sonic the Hedgehog into all his album covers, which is incredibly dope.
