When I was in college I never attended a single frat party.
Instead, my mixed bag of friends either threw our own house parties, found one to invade, or just cold kicked it with our vices. Some are etched in my memory, others got lost in a haze. Either way, I never went to a college party like the one above for Asher Roth’s first official video for his single “I Love College.”
I’ll admit that I had my doubts about the guy. Especially after XXL actually hit publish on his horrendous Freshman Freestyle. Now, though, after giving his material more burn, especially the Weezer-sampled single, I get it. I get him. He’s not the best, is far from the worst, and most importantly…he’s only doing what he knows best. Him.
If he gets to make out with super hot chicks on command, dictate a 100-person mansion party with The Cool Kids in attendance, ‘wake up and do it again,’ I can’t be mad at that. Shit, if I wasn’t so stuck in my ways, and all the frat kids at WMU weren’t douchebags, I would’ve done it too.
I also wouldn’t have been so quick to pass judgment on Ash Roth, either.

Asher Roth has been wacker than wack since day one. He is giving the worst account of college, and I can pinpoint all the white nerds in frats at my school who asher roth was just like. Fun in college is for kids who never did shit in high school, were late bloomers, and for the most part just huge losers.

Yeah that was a bit angry, i just get mad because i’ve been keeping tabs on this dude for a while and as his music gets more and more watered down of course people are clinging to him more and more (per usual). What might bother me more is the carbon copies of him at my school and the fact that he was assuredly not doing anything like this in college. If credibility is such a big deal why is it cool for this kid to make up an entire persona that allows him to move to the forefront of release dates when other talented artists stay on hold?

i dont know what youre talking about thats a pretty accurate reflection of my college experience so far (minus all the naked people-only at some parties). but for me college is the same as high school except a lot more free time, “open house” parties all the time, and being able to light up in the house whenever i feel like it
