As I mentioned several days ago, I’m into this whole “let me gather all the physical copies of music that I can before the digital age straight zaps away all evidence that music was once sold in other formats, word to finding a cassette tape being akin to finding a Susan B. Anthony dollar” kick.
And thus, we have the CD section of things in the Gotty™ house, which is composed of three boxes sitting in random corners. I know there has to be a better way to properly store these shits & I know that one of you have has viable options that you’re willing to share.
Two options that look good…
A.) The iShelf which mimics the cover flow look of iTunes.
B.) Trendy wall shelving/decor, which is almost a negative because I’m opposed to tapping a slew of holes in the wall.
And the biggest negative for both of these?
I’m function over fashion in most cases & it applies here. My collection swamps both of these. Besides that, I’m more advanced than the old school CD rack which puts off a “I’m hanging on to my college years!” feel to it IMO.
So, blog fam, what would you suggest?
Royce Da 5’9″, Phonte & Stat Quo – Homage to Premier (Prod. by Focus)
Royce Da 5’9″ & Busta Rhymes – Freestyle
JoJo Pellegrino – Beast
JoJo Pellegrino – Relapse
Drake Feat. Lil Wayne & Santogold – Unstoppable (Remix)
B.A.M. Feat. Lil Fame of M.O.P. – My City (Prod. by Ric Rude)
Hora Burnz Feat. Crooked I – Clap Back Remix

even tho u hate holes in the wall the shelves hold more albums
the cover flow thing is cool to look at but a waste of money to me doesnt even hold 10 albums
so id go wit the shelves
Just get a disc changer & put the cases/boxes in the basement.
Gotty, you still rockin’ that apartment carpet in your house? lol, I’da thunk you’da upgraded…y’know, with you being the type to rock overshoes and all, haha
you got that Killer Mike at Circuit City? what, are they having some sort of killer clearance sale? I might hafta swing through and see what they got…
I got my shit in cardboard boxes too, who knows when they’ll see the light of day….
Apartment carpet (here @ least) is another shade you twat lol. That’s the carpet in the bonus/my office space. Hardwood elsewhere, word to doing the Risky Business slide in my socks every morn. I think I got doubles of Mike’s whole discog. Not that they’ll ever be worth shit to anyone but me & him lol.
Boxes are so crude. I wanna display & have access to my stuff.
Nah, that’s actually a second copy of that Mike. Someone sent me that one off GP so I left it sealed, got a copy in one whip & comes equipped on the iPod in the other one.
I take out the cover jactes and throw the case away then i staple the backs of the booklet to cardboard cover wit a galss frame and hang them throughout my crib like art detailing my taste in music and i do each piece by year so you have a run down of how my taste grew since 15 when i first bought a cd
i suggest you shove your cds up your ass because shitty albums like radio, i pledge allegiance etc. and anything that homo colin munroe ever puts out will never be worth anything. they are tommorow’s barry manilow/barbra streisand dollar bin records
lol, Chris’ vitriol has gotten a skosh more venemous since TC got up in that ass (no 1 guy 1 cup)
Only a professional fudgepacker would suggest someone to do the same.
smh
Go with B, although the cover flow idea is cool, i doubt it functions as well as it looks.
There you go, Gotty! Storage solution solved!
put your entire music collection in Hater Chris’ ass…I bet it would fit, lol
I’d hate like Chris too if i had all that triflin’ audio crap blaring outta my MySpace page.
Funny thing about spewing hate, Chris: Once they stop laughing at you, all you’re left with is indifference-fueled silence.
That Exile CD is boss. Listening to it now as a matter of fact.
Go with B.
Slightly tangental…
My cassettes aged horribly. (They still sound better than Hater Chris’ beats—including my maxi-single of Ice’s of Play that Funky Music)
God knows what’ll happen once the glitches hit my MP3s… and they will. prolly sooner than later.
My wax still sounds surprisingly good–kept ‘em in cool dry storage in plastic.
My CDs are in the binders with the vinyl sleeves that i overpaid by a grip and a half for… at this point, some of the vinyl’s melted onto the CDs like that blood thru the metal hulls in “Alien”. That’s when my upgrade to iTunes began…
Gotty, get rid of the jewel cases, keep the jackets, and throw em in the extra large CD booklets.
Easy to categorize, store, etc…
Take the one’s you want to display, and find a nice shelving system…and not too contemporary-shit looks played shortly after it’s made…
Then toss the jewel cases in the chasm of the resident sphincter…
Shoving CD’s up ass, h*mo, Streisand and Barry Manilow all in the same rant??? Good grief…
Get that man a gerbil already!
why don’t you just make a shelf? i say somethin’ like a slanted L.
“That Exile CD is boss.”
^ fa sho.
“Get that man a gerbil already!”
^ who said Chris is a man? could be short for Christina, for all we know, lol
My future plan is to CD booklet the actual CD’s, and toss the jewel cases up on a wall with these.

Kinda expensive, $10 for 9, but they look good and apparently they don’t do damage to the wall.
Now depending on how much/little you care about these are, you can do what my guy Shay did:
And lemme preface this by saying that Shay’s a womanizing bachelor more interested in his Xbox than anything–
He took his CDs, fashioned vertical sleeves outta rubberbands and hung ‘em from top to bottom like beaded curtains…
he stacked a few more in sleeves on picture-frame stands. I actually like this approach–it was simple, but effective because everything was accessible and he only had maybe 100 CDs that he wanted to keep handy.
^now those look slick.
I have booklets but man I hate to take some of these cds out the wrap. i wanna save’em yo!
i know im mad late
but how can the kid named Chris hate
when the shit on his myspace sounds that shitty if i made shit like that i would not torture others with it.
i would delete it destroy the six year old pc
wit the cracked version of fruity loops and screen saver of scott baio
and move on to something productive.
please tell me you know him on some
“yo chris hating creates visits and comments so make a myspace that sounds like pete rock with a little premier mixed with will ferrel bucket naked swimming in doo doo butta in the summertime yelling i am not an animal”. and fuck carrots sorry about that
carry on
my shits are in cardboard boxes in the laundry room and the trunk of my car for some odd reason..
the only physical music i own: a rare big pun demo cassette from right before capital punishment dropped. its got the lead singles and some dope B sides which found their way onto endangered species…the only reason i still have it is cuz it hasnt left the tape deck in my car
no suggestions since I don’t own a lot of CDs, but you might wanna look around here: http://www.spinkeeper.com/
Yo Gotty, take my advice since I own 3,000 plus CDs and buy the CD-60 made by Case Logic. It’s a nylon case that has a plastic insert which holds your CDs in their jewel cases in an upright position. It zips up so that your music is protected from dust and dirt. Trust me, you won’t regret the purchase my ninja. Who the fuck keeps their music collection out in the open anyway???!!!
ps: If you buy a few cases in bulk (Such as a music junkie like me!) some online retailers might give you a deal. It’s worth a try.
I would go with the shelves, when my cd collection was overtaking my apt. I brought a bookcase from ikea.
Don’t keep all of your CD’s in a portable cd holder.. I had over 300 CD’s with the inserts covering them in it.. One day i got really high.. Brought my CD holder into my boy’s house.. Popped in “The Fix”.. Fell asleep after eating as much as i could eat.. Woke up, left the house..
Haven’t seen my CD’s since.
:(
My vinyls are fine though!
:D
I keep mine in the bookcase…simple, easy to organize and still “on display”.

^ That what you’re talking about Flea?
