This morning, Bigga noted that even just two days into to 2009, we’ve already been hit with a quick flourish of artist mixtapes. Arguably, one of the best works of 2008 was a mixtape (Wale’s Mixtape About Nothing). Soon to follow will be retail releases of the first portion of the year. And just like last year, there will be material released in the first & second quarters that will be long forgotten by the time those pesky “Year End” lists come around. We download & consume so much that we rarely get to ingest one Rar file before we’re off grabbing another.

My challenge to you is the same one that we as a Crew hold ourselves against.

Create a MS Word document. Save a text file. Keep a running email to yourself. Type it into your phone.

However you choose to document your travels in the path of listening, chronicle all the noteworthy Loosies & Strays you come across. Let’s see which ones you deem worthy of remaining on that list around November 2009. Within the Crew, we try to check in with our lists quarterly, making sure that a February release doesn’t get Zune’ed & forgotten come December.
