That’s part of the problem, fam. So many of these rap cats listen to/collaborate with or emulate some of the worse “rock” music out there.

It’s a punkish rock song. It’s like Fall Out Boy on autotune + mescaline… in short, it’s not bad.
If the rest of the album sounds like this, it’ll sell 5 million.
why?
Because it’s not horrible. and it’s Wayne. and it’s a crazy black kid embracing psuedo punkish, mall rock.
there’s an audience for that. Wayne’s got enough star power and enough balls and talent to sell this.
And just as 808 + heartreaks wasn’t inherently great, it had the right formula: a really famous guy embracing a genre that arguably more famous than his own (r+b) + autotune (which hides a multitude of vocal sins) and not horrible songs.
people are bored and want something different.
No, we didn’t show Fishbone or Living Colour or Bad Brains any love. We laughed at Ice T’s BodyCount and over analyzed Mos Def’s Black Jack Johnson crew… We ignore hipster dahlings like TV On The Radio…
but all those dude r knocking holes in the glass celing. Like EU broke thru and made Go-go hot and left Chuck Brown behind, i think Wayne’s album even if it’s just okay will be that one that makes black rock seem marketable.
Believe me I know Reg. I can’t even put all the fault on Wayne, because this is what gets burn & some group like that probably did the music for him.

I have never been, nor will I ever be a Wayne hater….but this shit is just terrible no matter who it was made by. I respect the attempt at a different outlook, but if you can’t really sing don’t make a rock album.

Normally when its time to catch up on The Smoking Section I start on the newest post then scroll down to the bottom then hit previous and keep going til I catch up to the last post I read….
Tonight I hit the bottom of the 1st page and instead of the option to click previous post (older posts, whatever it was) it says
