As a Nets fan, I thought I didn’t have much to look forward to going into this season. Maybe they’d win a couple more games than last year but that would be about it. I was especially skeptical of Devin Harris. Sure, he’s quick and was good for 15 and 6. Not to mention I was tight about him getting’ shook by some bloke off the street. All jokes aside I didn’t think he was ready to lead the team.
This is one of those rare cases where I’m happy as hell to be wrong.
Dude is averaging 25 and 6 right now and leading the team to a 11-10 start. If you want to talk numbers, he’s dropped 38 on AI, 34 on Deron Williams and 47-7-9 on Nash (to be fair we all know Nash plays suspect D.) All of those games ended in W’s; not to mention they lost 3 in a row without him earlier in the season.
Devin Harris Dunks On Chris Anderson
If you just looked at the names on the roster (outside of Harris and Carter, of course) you’d think the Nets would have no business being above .500 right now. Yi is inconsistent at best and Brook Lopez has his moments but he’s just a rookie. I understand that it’s early in the year and everything. Plus it helps that Washington, Philly, and Toronto are messin’ up right now. Hopefully the Nets can steal a playoff spot and Harris gets an all star nod this season if he keeps this up. I mean c’mon. Odds are he’s probably playing better than your favorite point guard so far.

47-7-9???
Those are more Vince Carter numbers….or so I’d thought.
Didn’t know that.
I didn’t think he had enough of a mean streak to even attempt the amount of shots it’d take to score 47…
Yea, I was pulling for the Nets a couple years ago when VC was traded there. But they should’ve pulled the trigger on that Jefferson trade earlier so they could’ve gotten a big man. Now, it’s too little too late. Sadly, if you ain’t a Cavs or Celts fan, there’s no need to cheer on anybody in the East
Being a Nets fan is hard.
I’m waiting on that Mavs game Friday. The return of Kidd. lol
this team is going to be great next year. the mavs aren’t gonna make the playoffs so again (we get their 1st round pick) we have an oppertunity for a top 10 pick, let alone our 1st round pick. this team will be stacked next year, especially after we trade VC for a big man, this team has mad upside

I dunno, Chauncey’s playing pretty good.
Which is frustrating.
Yea it is always tough to be a Nets fan when you see Jefferson leave, but I’m liking Harris’ hustle. 47-7-9 are insane numbers fo sho.
nets have been lucky so far, and devin has played out of his mind. but the truth is if you have to ride vince carter for your team’s success, you should never have high expectations. take it from someone who’s seen the ups and downs. all of toronto knows you can’t count on vc.
dood is the truth in 2K9, which means nothin since Keith Bogans just dropped 28 on me last night
How how that chinese dude ya’ll aquired from the bucks been working out for the nets?
^
*I meant “How has…”
Took an L from MY Bulls on Sat thought =)
Against D.Will(coming off a extreme ankle sprain) at 100%
that doesn’t happen.
Nash & A.I. both play 0 defense.
lastly, to say you were ‘tight’ about him due to some
quick 1 on 1 across the pond..come on.
D.Harris been ballin’ since his days in Big D.
Harris been ballin’ since he was at the University of Wisconsin. He used to kill my school (Illinois) all the time when I was in college. Dee Brown, Deron Williams, and Luther Head would all take turns guarding him and all get WORKED. I think cats forget that he was a baller in college, started at Wisconsin since he was a freshman, in his Junior year he was Big 10 player of the year and second team All-American, declared early, and was the #5 pick in the draft when he came out.
That was a stacked draft too, the first 4 picks ahead of him were Dwight, Emeka, Ben Gordon, and Shaun Livingston.
Players selected after him include ‘Blu’ Childress, Deng, Iguodala, Biedrins, Al Jefferson, Josh Smith, JR Smith, Jameer Nelson, Delonte West, Kevin Martin, and Sasha Vujacic just to name some. It shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that he’s ballin hard now that he is the go-to or second option and playing in an up-tempo offense and not some Dallas bullshit Avery Johnson slow the game down stuff.
He will be more than worthy of a bench spot at PG on the Eastern All-Star team this year behind Derrick Rose.
kidd for harris – worst trade in dallas history
upcoming superstar vs. 2-3 max in above-average play
cuban needs to be shot
As a Jersey native, yes Devin Harris was the steal of the century. Regardless of what you do – u can’t fill out seats at that damn stadium. I actually stood on line and got Finals tickets a few years back. Brooklyn ain’t happening in my opinon btw.
@ El Rosado..if they cut out the fiasco that is ‘fan-voting’. He would be a shoe-in. No doubt
as a Wisc. Badger he did Dam(age).
@ PB: I don’t mind fan-voting, especially cause the fans should vote Rose in given his play and popularity.
East coaches are hopefully smart enough to put Devin on the team as backup, even though they may go with A.I. out of respect for the OG.
@El Rosado: I hear that but man A.I. been stinkin’ up the palace since the trade. Still trying to figure out what J.Dumars is doing??? The NBA is getting caught up like NCAA football; coaches aren’t getting their just do.
1.Reggie Theus: no players
2.Mo Cheeks: under-achievers
3.Sam Mitchell: see #2
4.Eddie Jordan: injuries
5.Randy Whitman: church league all-stars
20% of NBA coaches already lost their jobs…and it aint even January. THe industry is getting super-volatile.
I feel you on AI, I don’t think he should be an all-star this year but you know he probably will be either voted in or selected by the coaches.
He’s already the starting guard based on votes, along with Wade, if the process ended today.
Rose is 8th amongst guards, with 1/6 the votes of AI.
Time for some grass-roots organizing to get Rose in the game!!
I like how dude just needed a culture change to play at this level. I mean no doubt he worked hard in the off season. It just gives more basis on the thought that players fit very well in certain systems.
My boy told me he’s 8th in point guard voting in the east or some crazy low standing. I don’t care I’m voting for dude on my ballot. Hopefully he gets in on coach voting.
And PB, i wasn’t extremely mad or anything. It was more like “wow I can’t believe that happened” semi SMH material. it was pretty funny though.
haha @ the grass-roots organizing.
I watched him(D.Rose) bang on Barbosa
a few wks back..ohh wee..then cross Miller.
The kid’s special. Maybe relegated to the
rookie game.
@ Sam gotcha; didn’t think you were upset.
He’s an assassin on the rise.
nets done good. but theres no way they making the playoffs. they been playing well above themselves and are still only 0.500. that number is gonna fall, for sure…
At least my Knicks beat them.
