Exile-llence!

With superproducers like Kanye, Just Blaze, Danja & Timbaland running the mainstream with their expensive synthesizers and million dollar studios armed with musicians at their beck and call, it seems as though it would be impossible for a new producer to step into the game. The thought seems illogical until Exile, the genius behind Blu’s 2007 masterpiece Below The Heavens, proves with a few strokes of the MPC pads that it’s the creativity that fuels great production, not fancy equipment.
Exile’s Radio drops Jan. 20th.

Got home and opened my inbox and got an email of New Era.
Good news, the ‘basic’ 59FIFTYs will continue to be made of 100% wool. There will of course be some that are made of cotton and some of polyester, it just depends on the style and theme of the cap. But for the most part 59FIFTYs will always be 100% wool, hoorah joy!
I also got my 2 disc edition of The Dark Knight delivered through the post today, so hoorah double the joy!
And yes Exile is brillo too, jeah!!!!!!!!!!
nebody have the Jadakiss - welcome to the Roc freestyle?? thanks if udo
Exile is good, really good as the ‘fake’ Ras Al Ghul would say……….I-M-P-R-E-S-S-I-V-E!
The illest fatty goof you ever seen.
I’m not sure if tss ever posted these but here are some more vids of Exile doing his thing:

damn that intro sounded like that Heiro’s At The Helm track..
^ it is
exile is that dude! major producers < underground producers
that was serious.
exile is that dude.
Exile is sooo slept on. All it takes is that one hit & he’s outta here!
“With superproducers like Kanye, Just Blaze, Danja & Timbaland running the mainstream with their expensive synthesizers and million dollar studios armed with musicians at their beck and call…”
They all start out like Exile though.
As a producer, you start buying all of that expensive equipment and staying posted up in multi-million dollar studios because:
a) You can then afford the equipment after you start to craft real hits [producers really like to experiment with new gear - it is like a sneakerhead and new kicks].
b) Once a superstar artist/band/group calls… until you attain Kanye/Dre status… you are going to them. And most of these acts still waste money in the multi-million labs.
That said…
I have went on record many times (glad I have the proof) picking out the next mainstream/hit producer…
(The Neptunes back in 97… Kanye back in 99/00 are just a couple)
This guy is good.
Have to listen to more of his productions though.
The thing is…
(And I may catch some industry backlash for this - blog backlash is cool)
You have to (in my mind anyway)… be able to play me 10 beats… and at least 6 of those move me.
In the past I have sat in meetings with many unknown producers strictly off of 1-2 tracks they send. But will go through maybe 50…
And they have possibly 3 (out of 50) that are hit tracks.
The difference between them and the aforementioned… is that the hitmakers batting average is much higher.
A hit producer will give you 7/10 hit beats while a beatmaker with potential will give you 1 (seriously).
So… I would like to hear what this guy has because this video is ill.
(And just thinking/typing out loud… but I am not so sure about Bangladesh. Beyond “A Milli,” I have not heard those hits churning out that would make him that ‘next’ producer. He better come with some consistent bangers real quick or be forgotten. She’kspere anyone?)
He is one of the nicest Cali has to offer in the way of underground hip hop producers. Some of his nicest beats are on his Dirty Science album!

RA - Jim Jonsin’. What’s your take?
“(And just thinking/typing out loud… but I am not so sure about Bangladesh. Beyond “A Milli,” I have not heard those hits churning out that would make him that ‘next’ producer. He better come with some consistent bangers real quick or be forgotten. She’kspere anyone?)”
Umm you cant be serious. Bangladesh has hits upon hits ALREADY. He’s been doing this for years man!
@ Gotty™
I have actually worked with Jim but to me… he is just not on “that” level.
(And by that level I mean Chad & Pharrell, Kanye, Dre… even Swizz)
To me, Jim had catchy tracks (he has been around for a good while), but I would associate him more with Lil Jon than the aforementioned.
He will bang beats out for a while… make hits…
But his tracks just really do not move me like all of the others.
@DJ Lights Out
Yes I can be serious (and am).
No disrespect but his production is simply not on that “super producer” level.
He has three (3) hits that bang (to me):
“What’s Your Fantasy” (Ludacris), “Bossy” (Kelis featuring Too Short), and “A Milli” (Lil Wayne).
The biggest (and the one that caught me from first listen) being “A Milli.”
That is a span of three mainstream hits in 8 years. His other singles… you cannot go to that crossover audience that is necessary to take it to that “next level,” and ask if they have ever heard of any of them.
I go by that first listen.
I do not go by BDS, chart position; SoundScan numbers or what “becomes” a hit by cultural trend (i.e. “Crank That”).
I go by feeling.
(If you know dude… have him holler at me. I will take him to that level if the consistency is there - no money necessary)
*has catchy tracks
(And I respect Jim to the fullest)
Nice discussion men.
