Christmas specials were always a big deal for my brother and me. Charlie Brown and The Grinch were mainstays, Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol played a big part along with Rudolph, Santa and Frosty. But the unsung hero was the claymation special featuring the California Raisins crooning their way through Motown before they had a Saturday morning cartoon.

Needless to say, Will Vinton’s Claymation Christmas keeps me saying “here we come a-waffling” and singing my jazzed-up version of “We Three Kings” as the camels did in the above video. Christmas Eve service at church has never been the same since. Mark my words, this is the version the kids will sing when I finally get my hands on the Director’s chair of the Christmas pageant.

Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely Holiday (in the event that you celebrate it) with lots of food, family, naps, laziness and reflection. A Merry Christmas to all…
