Charles explains his next project Sonic The Hamilton, which will be debuting on right here on TSS next Tuesday.

I’ve been waiting on our at bat in The Hamiltonization Process since the idea was first proposed. I’ve watched the various video clips of him, listened to tapes in the Process & other tapes before that & also paid attention to how cats tried to either deify or vilify Charles. The indictment seems to have been “he’s not this” or “he’s not that.” However, there’s an honesty in who Charles presents himself to be.

What I’ve seen is that Charles is mish-mash of styles & influences with an uncanny ability to use all those intangibles to spit bars. Sure, he’s unpolished but that’s part of the beauty of his work, especially the with the Hamiltonization Process. At times, being to polished can mean “I’m afraid to say the wrong things;” we don’t get that from Charles. What we are getting is front row seats to watch an artist work on his craft, make mistakes as well as mesmerizing music. In his early 20′s, Charles is bound to do the unthinkable, both good & bad, because in today’s musical climate there’s room for that. That’s what I enjoy. It’s not always the finished product, but the process (no pun intended). What he learns by having gone through this process. What we, as fans of Hip-Hop, get from that process.

And if you say the cartoon references & obtrusive wearing of pink aren’t “street” enough, I say the kid was homeless @ one point in time. How much more “street” can you be?

The fact that he’s here today making music is a testament to what being driven & having fortitude can do for you, provided you have a set goal in mind.

So I await Tuesday. Sure, it won’t be as big as yesterday’s Tuesday. But for me & for TSS, it’ll be our chance to take part in helping propel Charles to the next level…wherever that next level might lead.
