To say there’s been a wealth of words & energy centered towards this day would be an understatement. In the above picture, Obama sits alone. But it’s united we stand, stand for those who came before us, hoping that this day would be manifest. The work to be done is not his alone; the task is for all of us. Immigrant to indigenous. We all know our country is far from perfect. $10 trillion in debt. Homelessness to health care. Foreign relations as well as our relationships with our next door neighbor. Far from perfect. Today, however, will mark a day that we pray will be a beacon for significant change.
You only live once. So the Crew will be…anywhere but here, keeping up with music & the usual shenanigans. Instead, we’ll be watching how this day in history transpires. (We will however be updating the Smoke Break throughout the day so feel free to look to your right for assorted news & info.)
We’ll check in with you later after the polls start closing.

As I see it, today is like any other day. Historic… Yes indeed, but in the grand scheme of things how many of you really feel that a CHANGE is really going to take place??.. All we can do is pray for our leader(s), take care of our own lives and lend a hand to others when in need. This election has shown exactly how far (not far at all) this world has come as far as letting go of hatred and finger pointing. I’ve learned to never put too much trust in man, so for me it’s a good day regardless of the outcome… Keep your heads up folks

A french guy made a preview of the whole album on a french music site. He listened 808’s in the Universal Music premises. He loved the album !
The tracklist is a lil bit different and he gaves his opinion on each track, I’m french so I tried to translate to you :
1/Welcome to Heartbreak (ft Kid Cudi)
The track begins on a cello solo (made by John Brion I suppose) swamped by a monstrous beat. The beat calms down on the verses. Kid Cudi appears on the song, not rapping. The intro is all we wanted : dramatic, powerful, fragile.
2/Heartless
3/Love Lockdown
He listened an other different version with differents drums, no animal screaming at the end, so we got three versions now ^^
4/Robocop
5/Paranoid (ft Mister Hudson) (new name for “Anyway”)
So, the feat is not Kid cudi, but Mister Hudson, a pop british band who appeared on “the Glow In the dark tour”.
6/Streetlights
“Let me know, do I still got time to grow ?“ sing Ye. Always big bass drums with tribal effects like on Love Lockdown. A shrill sample covers a deep piano melody.
7/Say what you will
Maybe not on the album(final cut) according to a girl who speaking english. The beat is dope (Timbaland inspiration) with micro bips for snare drums. In the background, a gothic choral mechanized. The atmosphere is very contemplative.
8/Bad news
“Didn’t you know I was waitin’ on you ?”. My God, the ‘Ye verse is as dope as his “Put on” verse. The beat sounds like a no finished Timbaland beat (without Timbo organic beat box). Savage but sad. Big drums on this album for Kanye. At the end of the track, an eletronic violin mix with real violins. Real good track !
9/Amazing (ft Young Jeezy)
“I’m a monster, I’m a killer”. Big killing ! The beat sounds like Timbaland (again ^^) meet Dr Dre (piano arrangements) ! Young Jeezy make just ad-libs at the beginning (“Yeah!”, “Let’s go !”) but at the end, beast screaming (love lockdown) followed by the final verse for Jeezy ! Amazing track ! Unanimous : best track of 808 !
10/See U in my nightmare (ft Lil Wayne)
Damn, the album is dope ! The ultimate collaboration between Weezy and Ye ! It’s much better than “Barry Bonds”, the beat consists of big epic synthesizer, like on a Young Jeezy album, but without epileptic beat of Drumma Boy behind ^^ Without beat at all moreover. Lil wayne uses autotune, him and Ye are into the concept of the track.“Tell everybody that you know, THAT I don’t love you no more” sing kanye. It’s autotune extravaganza ! There are violins too. This track is the climax hoped for an album like that.
11/The Coldest Winter
==>French journalists are mitigated at the end of the listening. They don’t appreciate the autotune. For sure, 808’s and Heartbreak is very coherent. And if Kanye explore others directions which make him unrecognizable, the album is full of familiar leitmotivs which give an personal aspect at the project.
The album is DOPE ! He begin with an amazing track and end with a dope track !

@ Ross: True, true, but remember that the big boys who initiated the bailout plan were the Republicans; after the market turmoil the Democrats had no choice but to put the wheels in motion on the bill. Plus, if Im not mistaken, the Democrats shot the bailout bill down the first time based on some onerous conditions. Whatever the case Q4 of ‘08 and 2009 are going to be interesting financially and economically for us all.

I’ve literally never been so excited to be an American. Depending on the outcome, that may be a different story tomorrow. BUT, I have high hopes and said my prayers.
On CNN today I saw McCain say he WON’T let us down. A lie already. It’s impossible to please everyone all the time. Obama in his infommercial said he isn’t the perfect man and would make mistakes as president, but promises only to be honest with us. To speak with us truthfully. A New York Times article about Obama yesterday (go read it) said what motivates him to get out of bed every day is he doesn’t want to let Americans down. He’s not promising us he won’t because he knows you can’t please all the people all the time.

For those who don’t know (or don’t read the previous comments), I sent in my absentee ballot request form last Monday and my ballot never arrived. I called the CNN hotline today, left a message and was patched through to the local board where they told me they never received my application. Thus, no absentee ballot, no vote.
No, I cannot cast a provisional ballot because I can’t drop it off in person in my district. No I cannot submit a late absentee ballot request form because I cannot drop it off in person in my district.
