Words By Jason Hortillas
I’ve occasionally been requested for advice from up and coming emcees on how to put together a good marketing campaign. For the street wear brand, The Hundreds, you can take a page in their playbook of modern day Hip-Hop cross promotion. Their signature “Adam bomb” logo has been on the scene for quite some time, worn by artists such as Wale. But as the label is gaining more steam, they employed Left Coast artists Pacific Division, Dom Kennedy, Carter & Dom Gomez IV on a track called “Everybody Knows Us.” The joint is far from a jingle but when you got a photo shoot, music video and artist promotional video wrapped up in one, you have to commend The Hundreds on their hustle. How can you go wrong? If you like either the music, the beats, the gear, all parties benefit from the exposure. It’s like Ty Pennington on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition – if you ain’t crying at the heartfelt stories, you end up buying Sears products they plug all show long.
Can’t knock the hustle eh?
