Featuring Ben Folds Five, Talib Kweli & Spree Wilson, this vid is a nice change of pace in the Rap game where a dose of reality is always welcome. Novel’s been around for awhile and it’s nice to see that he’s made it through the sinking ship that was Rawkus Records. I didn’t like him too much when I first heard him on Quality and Soundbombing 3. He sounded like a poor man’s Wyclef Jean at a time when the original was wearing a little thin.

To his credit he stayed on the scene (producing and writing songs for the likes of India Arie, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Leona Lewis, Tweet, Kelis, Stacie Orrico, Beyonce, Smokey Robinson, Talib Kweli, Skillz, Monica, JC Chavez, Raphael Saadiq, Rob Thicke, Joss Stone and More) and carved out his own identity. He also produced this song so kudos to him for that. not giving up on his dream. Kudos also for not flooding the ‘net with bullshit and actually forming songs. Quality still trumps quantity from time to time.
