It’s been six months since Usher released his hood banger Lil Freak, and I still love it. The Stevie Wonder sample is wonderful with his sultry vocals and the horns work well with Nicki Minaj’s fierce rapping voice! Even though this song didn’t chart as high as Usher’s pop song, OMG, Lil Freak is definitely the better song, probably the best one on the album.

^Not sure about 9th being greater than West on the boards, although he does have a few gems, but I agree with you on College Dropout being his best Album. I still bump it. I couldn’t feel any of his other albums.

i dont think “putting artists in a box” has anything to do with the fact that Ye is consistently putting out crap music…this has nothing to do with “broadening horizons”

is it any surprise Ye went down the “artsy” road?…nothing wrong with the “artsy” road less traveled (3000s “The Love Below” is a perfect example of how to walk that path properly), but in my opinion Ye long stepped over the line of “artsy” and has been dwelling in “corny” for quite some time…seriously, can you tell me that his auto-tune doesnt sound forced?…i know T-Pain gave him and Weezy the pass on “Karaoke” but thats no excuse to use the damn thing on every song…

Kanye went from geeking out over having a LV backpack to his obsession with Murakami (not surprised though, him and LV go hand in hand) to blogging daily about futuristic furniture…enoughs enough already

dude went from being possibly the greatest HIP HOP ARTIST (yes ARTIST, his talent surpasses the label of “Rapper” and there are better “Rappers” around) of his time to an average POP SINGER who throws tantrums at photographers…sad progression that i feel started once his moms passed…dude doesnt have that ace in the hole no more, his emotional crutch through life is gone and he’s probably taking a lot more influences (both musically and personally) from outside sources, where in the past his mother would be his council

im just a bitter fan who wants my College Dropout back….pause

College Dropout > Late Registration > Graduation > what ive heard of 808s & Heartbreaks

kid gets progressively worse with each project…damn shame

and while im on my rant and rave mode…random but 9th Wonder > Kanye West

I’ll be going to Dragon i tonight to hear the great Dj Premier spinning the wheels of steel.. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.. I wonder if he will spin any of Kanye’s new stuff.. ill keep SS posted..

i’ve been playing most of the songs all day and night.. (I’m in Hong Kong) and the album will be dope. if he was trying to sell singles than this might be iffy… but since this music is from him to us .. I cant complain.. it does blend together well.. so props to Kanye, He keeps reinventing himself and the dude is a star with or without the rapping.. I only buy a few CD’s a year and this is certainly on my list as is 88 keys, Wale and C. Hamilton.
