Dear Corinne,

I’m sorry but I’ve been unfaithful.

I know you’ve gone through your own share of personal turmoil. In selfish way, I hoped it would spur you to create more music, assuming that pain inspires art in many ways. I waited as long as I could. I still play your self-titled debut heavily. I’ve sang & hummed “Trouble Sleeping” til I can’t anymore. Not right now.

Right now, I’m in need of new material, more musings of a songstress.

So I’ve started to dabble in the music of a young Nigerian-Irish shorty named Laura Izibor. Maybe I’m running out of ways to characterize them or perhaps they all sound the same to me with the accent. But she’s another imported artist & I hear tinges of Joss & Adele in her voice, with a hint of more soul inflections & depth. Her biggest song thus far seems to be “From My Heart To Yours,” which has received a Premo remix, an ultimate cosign.

So Corrine, I’m not leaving you. Never. I just felt like it was time to cleanse the air. I’ve been stepping out on you & quite untrue.

But at least I picked a good one huh?
