The remaining members of Goodie Mob were dead wrong for signing off on this promo pic during the One Monkey… days. But goddamn that shit is hilarious to me right now. I was kinda shocked when my consigliere had never heard “They Don’t Dance No Mo’.” Remember the video where they were knuckin’ around, mimicking club patrons? Yeah, I still do that dance now. And I couldn’t find that fuckin video no matter how hard I tried.
Well, I only tried for five minutes before I was all tuckered out. If you find it though, holler.
Still Standing was a good album, but you could tell the Mob was starting to lose their creative fizz that was found on Soul Food & their debut. World Party never even hit my radar outside of “Get Rich To This,” which was all over the radio/video circuit & anywhere but home for the Atlanta boys.

IT’S A MONKEY DRIVING A CADILLAC!!!
Good morning.
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2035676/v2165855
found the video here and it still halarious
Man my dude Charlie Chan (my favorite DJ in the Lou–DMC’s tour DJ as well–a legend round these parts) dropped a track off Soul Food (and not Soul Food or Cell Therapy) last night at the club…great moment. I’m not good with the tracknames or #s on that album, just know the beats and rhymes…but I was a lil hazy last night so I can’t place which track…just know it caused mass happiness.
Soul Food might be top 10 favorite albums all time.
and “Don’t Dance No Mo” is one of my favorite tracks to play in the club, ever…
That monkey looks funny!!! I wonder if he knows how to “ghost-ride” the whip!!! lol!!!
Seein’ that awkward ass Cee Lo head on that kid still kills me.
In other news I had to put this in perspective. It’s been 10 years since this dropped: wow. I remember lovin’ this joint back in middle school.
I INTERVIEWED them for this album! I was so green then… Anyways, what I remember most from the sit down was Gipp trying to convince me that they weren’t referring to Cee-Lo as the monkey. LOL.

^^ Oops- patience is a virtue…
YESTERDAY The Roots, in france, for the kanye west’s tour concerts, had a bus crash on the highway !!! all the members are alive… !!! but damn “miracle” !!!
Man, I slept on Gemini so hard.
this testimony is redic.
@ 500K FLEA
I have confirmed that the monkey can “ghost-ride the whip.”
LOL

^LOL. I can’t believe you took the time to look for that… And why are the brake lights on?!?! haha.
Where’s Cee-lo and where’s the rest of the Mob? Soul Food was a classic, but Mr. Green’s had a solid solo career since bouncin’… maybe he saw something the rest didn’t. maybe it was good fortune on his end…
I don’t think those guys could ever get back together, tho. I just have a hard time imagining ‘lo standing up in front of the crowds who supported Gnarls Barkley and yellin’ “and if you take out one ‘O,’ God Is Every Man Of Blackness”!
@ Cali Music: HA HA HA!!! That’s some funny-ass shit!!! Awww man, monkeys are so cool. I wish I had a small one for a pet; I’d train him to do some crazy stuff!!! It’ll be the day when I see a monkey ghost ridin’ down the block, bumping “Throw Some D’s”.
WE ARE MONEYS !!!
BONOBOs AND GORILLAz !!!
errbodi in dys fuckin’ World yall !!! WORD.
I always wondered exactly what “This:” was.

=========================
lol, yeah right dude.
I always wondered exactly what “This:” was.

The knuckin dance from the video yo. I’m doing it now as a matter of fact. I do it @ least 3-4x per week. I get mad? do the dance. I get excited? do the dance.
Ima call child abuse on ya’ll
lol @ Gotty doin’ the knuck… then having to explain it all to everyone under 25…
Gotty: No, The Knuxx didn’t invent this dance.
*listens*
Gotty: No. The Knuxx aren’t beefin’ with Gnarls Barkley.
*listens*
Gotty: No, these guys aren’t former Gnarles Barkley members, either!
*listens*
Gotty: Yes, the little creepy fat bald black dude.. yeah, his daughter was on My Super Sweet 16.
*listens*
Gotty(frustrated): it’s G-i-p-p, not ‘g-i-m-p’! (pause) i don’t know what a “gipp” is, either.
*listens*
Gotty (throws hands up): i’m done!
*Gotty walks away thinking he needs a couple more older friends.*
“capt’n crunch music”
dawg, you wrong for that one. funny, but wrong.
okay, who’s gotta a better catalog–Prince or MJ? Obviously Prince has more stuff, tho once you factor in J5, Mike’s catalog is surprisingly thick; plus a lot of Prince’s stuff is “lemme get outta this bs deal i signed when i was 16″ caliber.
Prince catalog smacks down MJ solo catalog any day…

Just to name a few
Still Standing was heavy in my neighborhood when it came out (grew up in Chattanooga, TN). You could hear someone regularly bumping The Damm or Black Ice outside. Heh, I was just thinking about how much I missed Goodie and threw a couple of videos at my blog.
Yeah, the “this” dance was pretty much making fun of the bankhead bounce and throwin’ ‘bos, right?
@Black Canseco Wasn’t there noise being made about a Goodie Mob reunion? I remember reading somewhere that Cee-Lo was actually wanting to put it together and that the rest of the crew was receptive.
Anybody heard anything more about that Willie Isz project that Khujo’s apart of? I’ve heard a couple of tracks from it and dug ‘em.
Reg,
i heard something about a reunion, but that was around his Soul Machine days and way before Danger Mouse started lacin’ him. maybe Gnarls will take a break/run its course and GM will get back together.
Danger’s a nice producer tho. maybe he’ll do a Goodie album?
“Still Standing was a good album, but you could tell the Mob was starting to lose their creative fizz that was found on Soul Food & their debut.”
Even though Still Standing had some inconsistencies the tracks that were nice were really nice and had more than alittle “creative fizz” … both versions of Black Ice, Ghetto-ology, Fly Away, Inshallah, See You When I See You.. personally I thought They Don’t Dance No More was one of the weaker tracks (especially production wise) but overall I dont think their sophomore album disappointed many fans.
Personally instead of a reunion album I’d rather Ceelo and Gipp get together and do something.
“Wasn’t there noise being made about a Goodie Mob reunion? ”
Both Ceelo and Gipp talked about a reunion in recent interviews and all 4 of em showed up at some concert in ATL (Nelly concert?) and announced a reunion. Even Big Boi said recently that the album is in the works now and on the way.
Gipp with the fish nettttttttt lol
Quick question, isn’t the “This” dance the “Lean Like A Cholo” dance, too? LMAO.
“World Party” was a mess, down to the album cover.
^ wasn’t no party at all…
that joint was not.good.
Regular – you grew up in Chatt? I used to hang out up there quite a bit.
Nadine – I feel you but you named all the “good” songs off the album — Black Ice, Ghetto-ology, Fly Away, Inshallah. I actually wrote on Ghetto-ology not too long ago (or it seems that way in my brain). But that was all it had. It didn’t pack the same punch as their other joints.
And yeah, they were in the A a few months ago @ a Nelly showed, pics snapped w/them onstage together (first time I think). I don’t see an album coming @ this point though.
Still Standing is a classic as well. Fuck what you heard.
how the hell outkast make it and goodie mob flops… DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!
@ Nadine G.
yeah, i remember when they’d try to say the monkey represented something “holding them back” like Khujo’s accident, them leaving LaFace/Arista, etc……yeaaaaaah riiiiiiiight.
Still Standing has always been a fav of mine; it didn’t disappoint me in the least. World Party on the other hand was a waste of an album; I think thats when it all fell apart.
how come DF releases can so easily spark so many diff memories by everybody? I love it lol.
