I guess it’s time for me to lay my claim.
When it comes to these quote, unquote “Top Of The Class,” next-gen MCs, I strongly believe that Mickey Factz is easily the front runner of the herd. While his approach to the “Top” has been similar to the rest of his classmates, his content is not. To put it bluntly: conceptually he’s ready drop a 4 Cig debut (at the least). In regards to David and LC’s picks, if this was high school basketball, Corey Gunz would be dude who mastered the And1 moves but lacked in the fundamentals of running plays, and Blu would be the guy coaches begged to tryout but he would do his own thing instead.
Mickey’s that guy who makes the team because of his skills but never sees playing time.
Hopefully this generation can start dropping retail because the majority of us are already sold.

MIckey Factz is GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!
Word IS Bond
Conceptually, not too many are touching Mickey pause.
I wonder why he’s “garbage” aside from the fact that it’s your opinion?

^ there’s my points for why he is, in fact, ahead of these other cats. Creativity & wild concepts.
i USED to like mickey, still like some of his joints but he got annoying real quick. Not to take away from his talent, i’m just sayin.
in your opinion then, what is wale in your basketball terms?
forget the fact that he isnt even listed/released one of these freestyles yet (hopefully he makes the cut)
Mickey is garbage. When is Jay Electronica going on he will shut this shit down.
Wale is garbage too get these cartoon rappers out of here.
In my opinion?
Wale would be that dude that gets on the court with Tims on, smelling like Joop!, ashy hands and gold bracelets, got an ugly ass jumper but yet it goes in.
Come to think of it, that’s probably the reality of it hahaha.
@ East Coast
I wouldn’t even pass Jay Electron the ball. Fucc outta here!
Blu’s own thing >>> high school basketball.
I’m a Mickey Factz fan.
Out of all of the XXL freestyles, he’s one of the few who I feel would actually put together an “album” and a quality one at that. Some of these other guys would be “singles” rappers.
Cory Gunz — Great lyrical skill (making him a great emcee), but not sure if he’s an “artist” yet. His dad was the exact opposite IMO.
Blu — has the lyrical skill, and definitely believeable as an artist (he’s proven it twice with his collaboration albums), but lacks the “mass appeal” of todays listeners (not like he cares, which is what I like most about him).
Curren$y — charismatic, nice with the wordplay, but for some reason he only sounds good over other artists’ beats. What part of the game is that?!
KiD CuDi — comedian of the bunch… when he’s on, he goes in. However he seems to be hit or miss a lot of times. Perfect example: “Day N Night” = dope song… “Maui Wowie” = WTF?! C’mon CuDi!
Ace Hood — Not my cup of tea, but he can spit. Lemme hear this guy on something other than a Khaled beat, and I can give you an unbiased opinion.
Charles Hamilton — Enh…. I’m still skeptical on this guy… he’s hit or miss with me. Everything still sounds like a freestyle from this guy, but he’s getting better. I think he’s been hitting the “hip-hop weight room”.
*Steps off soapbox and hides that muhfucka*
can someone educate me on blu via some top tracks. I’ve been blind to dude forever.
@ Doug
Heavy co-sign on all them!!! Good shit.
And Ace Hood murked Ryan Leslie’s “Addiction.” It could’ve been his song.
Really though, Cory Gunz has been the next best thing…for like 4-5 yrs now lol
Cory Gunz reminds me of Shyheim sooooo much. Just with a more up tempo flow.
I wouldn’t even pass Jay Electron the ball. Fucc outta here!

You wildin’.
@Dr.Howser, good looks.
this little freestyle was nice yo
I dug the delivery & rhyme schemes
I was digging Mickey at first, but then I started really listening to his lyrics…..and there’s not much there…..like The Cool Kids, who I recently figured out I listen to just for the beats. Mickey seems like a bad Lupe knockoff with no substance.
Like that Incredible song, he just rhymes words, half of them don’t mean anything. Ultry-terrestrial?
I did give his mixtape a burn but just wasn’t feeling it.
DYING@ Wale comin on the court in Tims smellin like joop! lol
I like Wale tho, he said more on The Kramer than old “Bait and Switch Nasir” said on a whole album
