LC already posted the Blu XXL bars for their Top Of The Class feature. And I agree that he is speeding his way up to my top five MC list. But Cory Gunz is just something out of this world. He puts words together so effortlessly and quick listening is the equivalent of trying to catch 40 quarters thrown in the air at the same time. Only thing you can do is rewind and try to get it all again.
Is there a better album-less MC on the planet?
If so, I’d like to see him do what Cory just did in this video. Don’t worry, I’ll wait cuz this is going to take a few repeats for you to grasp it all. I’m on my 5th try.

KRS’ top 5 MC list:
1) KRS-One
2) KRS-One
3) KRS-One
4) KRS-One
5) KRS-One
Aight! Now THAT’S what uhm tawmbout right there….
Cory keelt it…
he OBVIOUSLY didn’t get his gift of lyricism from his pops
Blu & Cory on a song together would be type sick yo
Whoa!!
Junior is a spitter! Once he learns how to make songs, he’ll really be a problem.
THAT was fresh.
I’m proud of XXL for doing this/these.
LOL @ Teefus
“I’m number 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5!”
Second coming of Pun?
I can’t wait for the Lil Boosie freestyle……
“Iphones! and My phones! Krispy gleem like krispy kreme, boosie boosie boosie, webbie webbie webbie”
as far as Pun impersonations go
Cory Gunz >>> Termanology
How the hell did Pun’s name get brought into this?
^

Second coming of Pun?

somebody tell me if I’m wrong, but Pun was one of the last revered NYC emcees who had radio love AND spit tongue-twisting flows AND had a personality behind it all
Cory Gunz is a frontrunner for a return to that type of MC…somebody who isn’t afraid to NOT dumb it down or compromise lyricism…you hardly see that coming from up top, as far as the 5 boroughs
But Pun had the intangibles too. Charisma, personality & a sense of humor. You gotta be born with what Pun had. 2nd coming? Nah, let Corey be the 1st Corey, cause Pun….they ain’t even in his clasa.
^ I totally agree. I ain’t say he was the 2nd coming. But upon first listen of that XXL free, his lyrical acrobatics reminded me of Pun…plus, in Corey, I also see elements of Lil Wayne (that free association flow) & Blu…
I’d like too see Corey develop his craft and become a mainstay…
I only threw Term’s name in their cuz he does the mutli-syllabic wordplay thing, but his personality is a tad bit dry
^agreed with Amp. Dont even try put Corey in Pun’s vicinity.
I think pun got brought into this coz his flow was very similar to this.
Either way, props to the kid for doing what he did.
notice how I used the word “impersonations” though….in hindsight, perhaps a wrong choice….Supernatural does impersonations….so, in closing….
I won’t ever mention
Big Pun
and Corey Gunz
in the same sentence lol
(notice how I put Pun’s name on top…and broke up the sentence structure…to acquiesce & appease you folks, geez)
^ LOL!
What ya’ll know about the grey tapes?

This that Texas ish. Back in 96-97, you were the man if you had a grey tape!
This is what I get for talking shit yesterday…
new murs video
murs-can it be

I’ve heard all the Apprentice joints, the BKS joints… And i’ll say now what I said back then:
That boy got an arm–but he ain’t no QB yet. He still a quarter back from bein’ a real quarterback.
He got gunz but he ain’t no assassin; he still just a shooter.
Dude is more muscle than strength.
I’m waitin’ not just for songs and song structure, but i’m lookin’ for lyrical concepts that go beyond phonetic wordplay and extending metaphors off the same 3-4 “-er” topics (i’m badder than you, i’m richer than you, i’m wilder than you, i’m harder than you…)
Dude’s nice, but he ain’t crackin’ my list or my ipod yet.
If Cory Gunz wants to get down in the same soil as the corey’s before him–Corey Penn or Corey Carter–he needs songs. he needs to quit spittin’ and start writin’ about something he actually cares about.
adopted.
this kid bends them syllables properly.
said a lot, and didn’t say much simultaneously.
craft that song in the same vein and sky’s the limit.
i was listening to some of my old WakeUp Show tapes over the weekend… This would’ve fit right in on there… Somewhere between Canibus and Tech N9ne going off…
But that’s where it’s at for me.
I ain’t hatin’ on youngin’, i just think he gotta get back on the mound and develop some. He still Joba Chamberlain, but the game needs more Greg Maddux.
