I know I could probably write a post every day about Fox News’ coverage of the election, however their content is mostly a “creative” take on actual facts. Yes, they ignore opposing valid points to support their ultra-conservative opinions, but the station and journalists working there are entitled to this right. So far, what Fox News has done has been mostly under the umbrella of journalism.

That was until a friend of mine sent me this article from Fox News in which they indicated that Colin Powell’s “Hip-Hop dancing” was an endorsement of Barack Obama. The only connection between Powell and Obama, given by the article, was that Powell was dancing to Hip-Hop during an “African Rising” festival in London. Apparently Powell’s willingness to dance to obviously “black” music is an endorsement of the “black” presidential candidate regardless of the fact that Powell has made no endorsements in the 2008 election and he served under current President Bush.

This article is not only ignorant, it’s bad journalism. It’s amazing that this article was not only written but approved for publishing. Powell never made mention of Obama during his speech, yet the author says that his dancing was a sign of him doing the “Obama two-step.” What’s worse, is that if Powell does endorse Obama, this monumental move will be ignored by many as a foregone conclusion due to their race instead of a reflection of Obama’s impact on an opposing party member.

A couple of questions come to mind:

Is there a signature dance Powell would have to do to show allegiance to McCain?

McCain’s daughter showed off her Hip-Hop playlist on her Ipod. I wonder who does she support?

On the flipside, I can sleep much better tonight knowing that all of those people I’ve ever known to listen to Hip-Hop are voting for Obama.
