Shit was different back then. Now its all about classic Nikes/Jordans. Maybe the shoe companies are falling off, but 10, 15 years ago you had these joints in gym class, you was the shit. We didn’t even know the official name of sneakers. It was Jordans, Barkleys, Bo Jacksons, Grant Hills, etc. But believe me, you got props if you rocked a signature shoe in school. Especially those who rocked other than Jordan because they could tell you were a little more into the kicks than the average.

I had both of them: The Griffey’s came out in the spring and The Barry’s were my back to school shoe for 9th grade. Of course the black/red XI’s were still clean as hell too.
I forgot about the “Big Hurt” shoes…A kid on my baseball team had them joints back in the day. They were kinda dope…Not sure if they made anything other than cleats though…

There is more than one Air Griffey Max… I’ve had a few different ones acutally.
12 years, a bachelor’s degree, a couple jobs, and a decent career later…..i still cant fully wrap my mind or wallet around dropping $150+ for the Griffeys….feel like as soon as i touch them my pops gonna appear and be like “nah, you already know we aint getting those”
