“Rugged Neva Smooth Sued…”
GENERAL By David D. on October 31, 2008 at 1:24 pmThere has been a lot of hoopla over the last few years about the similarities between Hip-Hop and WWE with all of the staged fights, slick talking and fake retirements. What many don’t realize is that there have been a few battles between wrestlers and rappers. And no, I’m not talking about the No Limit Soldiers fiasco from WCW that spawned a music video masterpiece.
Just this week, M.O.P. sued John Cena over the sampling of their song in what is the most recent in a list of rapper versus wrestler courtroom beefs.

Round 1: Diamond Dallas Page vs. Jay-Z
For those of you that don’t know DDP, he’s a nutjob.
He was never a good wrestler and ended up retiring due to health problems and went on to try being some sort of self-help guru. He had a finisher called “The Diamond Cutter,” so he would make a diamond with his hands in the air from time to time in the exact same fashion that Hov and his crew does. Page decided to sue Jigga for stealing his sign.
Needless to say, this didn’t last long. As anyone knows, them sexy ass Deltas been throwing up something similar to a diamond for decades which would make more sense than Hov Jockin DDP. This case made it pretty much nowhere.
For those of you that don’t know The Game, he’s a nutjob.
But this one actually wasn’t his fault. Triple H had been running around with the moniker of “The Game” for the greater part of the 21st century and seemed to think the rapper was taking his very generic name. Naturally, this case didn’t go anywhere, but The Game (the rapper) chimed in with some gems before it was all said and done: “I think that we should just take it to Pay Per View and have a wrestling match, man, so I can fuck him up because I’m not into that whole play wrestling thing.” Rrrriiighhhht © Dr. Evil
Ok, this one is kinda serious.
Apparently John Cena called M.O.P.’s people about using a sample from “Ante Up” in his theme song. The group claims they never gave him the official clearance. Fast forward a lil’ bit and Cena becomes the biggest star since The Rock, which means that his theme song could have earned those MC’s way more than they’re getting from Sesame Street videos.
This revelation has already affirmed my burgeoning respect for Cena. First of all, dude started off as a self-parody of a white kid from Boston that wanted to rap. So he started kicking rhymes before his matches that turned out to be extremely hilarious and displayed an actual talent (I use that word loosely) on the mic. I mean, he isn’t going to make Drake moves, but he’s respectable. And the fact that the homie sought out “Ante Up” earns him a great deal of respect. Still though, he might be owing Billy and Zane some dough in the near future.

M.O.P. will kick WWE’s butts! They’ll sing about ‘em and it’ll be over.
You’d think these cats should be perfect fit of WWE, but…
Oh well, there’s always that White House houseband opening in Jan.
(can you imagine MOP in DC?! Wish Obama were a real hiphop head…)
y’know what’s messed up…I saw one article about this that called M.O.P. a 90’s rap group…ouch.
I always thought Jayceon’s explaination for his moniker was sorta suspicious.
“My grandma always said I was “Game” for anything.”
Really? The whole shot 5 times, woke up out of a coma story was more plausible.
Speaking of Drake…

Really? I think monday nights in the crackspot watching Raw was a more likely inspiration. The whole got shot five times, woke up out of a coma story seemed more plausible.
