Most of us can relate to Hip-Hop on some level. If not, then we wouldn’t be here, right? With the trap music/gangsta shit that so much of this genre was built on, I find myself having to relate solely on some metaphorical level. It’s refreshing when a rapper spits a verse that I can relate to 100% and say to myself “yea, I’ve been there.”
“I got my tux on
In the city where the people keep Chucks on
And they told me that they don’t see
my name on the list so I’m stuck home
In a brand new suit, my girl look cute,
I done spent my dough renting a brand new coupe
Just trying to splurge, park my shit on the curb
I thought it was A-list, I feel like a nerd
Guess that’s what I get for trying to do what the stars do
So I’ma do me go hit up a bar or two
Fuck drinking champagne,
give me Jack D. on the rocks, DJ spinning doing his damn thang,
playin some dope shit nobody has heard about
No flyers for the party, strictly on word of mouth
And wouldn’t ya know, that the place that I ain’t wanna go
is the same place they got love for Joe, so c’mon party with me.
– Joe Scudda from Statik Selektah’s “On The Marquee” off Statik Selektah’s Stick 2 The Script
Joe Scudda paints a picture of those magical nights when you end up having a good ass time that you never planned on. Cuz lawd knows I’ve been denied access to many a door due to over-crowding or premature post-rat-a-tat-tat shutdowns. Of course, instead of the bar, I end up going to Club Waffle House and having an unexpectedly damn good time. These are always the nights that garner the best memories. Joe sets the stage for such an occasion and accurately reenacts the events with pitch-perfect precision.
Is it the weekend yet?

haha, yup def. had these kinds of nights. they turn out to by the best ones, huh?
good quotable.
yeah, Scudda’s aiight & he’s shredded his share of verses. This was one was a good one.
Scudda is always hit or miss with his verses to me, this one is dope, but other ones wind up being pure huffness, there’s one on that “and justus for all mixtape” where the hook is like “I love you baby” sang by Darien Brockington and Scudda drops one of the worst verses I think I’ve ever heard from an “emcee” in my life, it sounds especially bad next to Phonte and Pooh who killed it and Darien who was snapping on the chorus. Oh my. But other times he hits with gems like this, so eh, **shrugs shoulders**
He is mos def better than Roth though.
IMO, he held back Lovin It with his verse. Pooh and Te were going in clean and he comes with the curses that to me caused contrast. BET, MTV, VH1 ain’t the place for contrast on your 1st single on your 1st major release.
lol, hiphopgame.com has excerpts from the smoking session with raekwon in their news section, and they credited yall as “The Smoking Section.com”…smh
Favorite Joint on Stick to the Script besides prolly For the city
Scudda came ill on this but I thought Phontes verse outshined both of theres the chorus by chaundron or w/e is ill to dope ass song
best Scars anyone??? Scudda killed that ish and Plastic Cups… he def had the best verse on plastic cups… funny he keep murkin Pooh joints
Dope song… That SS album is pretty fresh.
Scudda and Asher are both wack, I still have a bad taste in mouth from the trash he dropped with LB
Great verse. This track will be on Boogie Bang 16…coming…soon.
Are yall fools crazy? Joe rips it everytime. Every LB track! Come on, you saw/heard plastic cups right? –fools for even sayin that! Go to BED! What about the joint with saigon?! Forreal.
Yeah-go to bed!
appreciate this post… glad i stopped to view it bc when i hear joe scudda i just think of my home (NC) and a feature from an LB record.. waking up every morning with his *&^% in his hand smh
man yall have no sense of talent or skill at all, dumbass haters
lol yo for real, Joe and Asher are better than 99% of rappers.. Asher’s mixtape The Greenhouse Effect is a top 3 mixtape of all time, NO debate… and ill bump Scudda’s Authentic Mixtape over damn near anything you can name.
Yall must listen to straight garbage.. go check out Reign Man, Wiz Khalifa, Ekko, Sly Boogy.. thas jus a few on the rise that’ll shit on everyone you name.
