“I don’t know why the critics say it’s worthless, but my favorite Common album is Electric Cir-cus…”
Wildabeast is…a beast. Here over a Madlib beat, he drops a dime on the music that inspires him. One day, I want to create a post in Youtube.
Anyways, Wildabeast is preparing to drop his next tape, Extra Levels, with Mick Boogie & Terry Urban. You know that cosign means that you will soon be hearing more of the kid’s name than you ever imagined. It’s well warranted so you might as well get familiar.
Watch for the aforementioned “Many Levels” video to drop this week as well.

ahh man, this fucker’s just like Lupe, making it a damn point to say he ain’t listen to Tribe…
man…
the fuck…
why these fuckers gotta be all defiant and contentious and shit?
Big Tribe Fan here…
but duke is nice.
i aint mad cha.
*i aint mad atcha
Fuck all this.
All due respect, I donno why people act like it was a staple to listen to Tribe in the early 90s.
I got into tribe a lil bit late, just before their 3rd album. Which, technically, and logically, makes more sense than saying I’ve been riding to them since they first dropped. I was aware, but I couldnt hear them over that blaringly loud west coast rap i was into back then.
I mean, just check their sales, and tell me if they had the everybody’s eyes ears and hearts from the jump:
Midnight Marauders and Low End Theory both went plat, the rest went gold at best…..around the same period of time Michael Jackson was selling 30 milli+ per album, Dre & Snoop were doing about 5mill a piece….etc, etc…shit, Heavy D and the Boyz moved more units than Tribe, i think.
So really, it’s no surprise that 7/8ths of heads who snap at other dudes for not listening to tribe can’t recite a whole verse without fumbling…even with fumbles, most of them will just talk their way out of doing it.
Real tribe heads, respect. The rest of you, go out back and shoot yourselves, or stop faking.
*gets off soap box and gets back to writing *
Actually, Electric Circus is my favorite Common album as well.
If Electric Circus is your favorite Common album you probably are worthless.
I honestly dont know a human being with a penis who likes that album.
Wildabeast, this the same cat with that spit over
Portishead Third. Good shit.
I give Common much props for going where
most artists are scared to venture. Electric Circus=dope!!
The track and videos are nice except the critic of ATCQ, I don’t get the point, really.
Especially when your fav hh album is a wycleef jean one…
it wasn’t a critique.
it was the truth.
growing up he didn’t listen to tribe because his older brothers used to play NWA. even tho tribe had somethin to say.
he was just saying what he may be listening to at any given point. And all, good music I may add.
Also, I cosign contra’s post. MF’s act like tribe embody something. I copped Midnight Marauders the day it dropped ON TAPE and was sold, I went back to their first couple after that and copped all the later releases. That was cool, I dug em. The first De La album I liked throughtout was Stakes Is High. I’d ckd for em, was aware of them, but they weren’t doin it for me. Daisies? Does that make me less of a hiphop fan than you? Of course I’ve went back and relistened and heard other things as an older guy, but I’m talking about initial imapact. People are making too much emphasis on things they shouldn’t. Its just music/art. We can’t brand everything to a “ur hiphop if”.
and its a solid track
