btw…that dance move where you grab your ankle/foot with the opposite hand and hop through the loop with your other leg…I still kill that shit.
was there ever a name for that move?
yes, Wit-E…they REALLY call themselves the Retro Kidz. hahahaha
some fag-ass collective from NYC and their whole steez is to relive old superficial shit….the surface aesthetic without the vibe and energy that made the past so dope…
like low-carb 80’s….80’s-Lite
LMAO. retro kidz….
didnt id & play start that leg jumprope move?
*kid & play
was there ever a name for that move?

Ayyeee
Roll

Roll
with Kid-N-Play now
This retro shit is phony as hell.
It one thing to be retro. Jurassic 5 was retro.
It is another to be some gimmicky parody shit like The Afros.

The capper is that these dudes are rapping over Snap – The Power.
Nobody was co-signing Snap’s version which was garbage especially after it was known that he stole the song from Chill Rob B.
still debatin if i should c the vid..i dont wanna hear the song tho
mute button time
^ you’re better off watching old Big Daddy Kane & Kwame videos with much better dancing and choreography….when it was sincere and authentic
Kid ‘N Play …. 2 Hype.
video>>>>>>>>>>>>song
these kids r lame on so many levels
they “troop” around the “streets” of “New York” just to be seen rocking decades-old styles…
LOL
please
yeah, cool, dude
just watched the video…
the song is fuckin horrible…
dudes are so lame…
kareem did his thing with the video tho.
these kids wouldnt be fashionable if they actually lived in da 80s
“Hate is the new Love” is all I can say…lol
Instead of all the “negative slash love” comments just say it isn’t for you instead of the “fake” retro this and that talk.
Retro Kidz are not gimmicky. I thought the same thing when I met them but these kids live & breathe early hip hop. Even their homes are decorated with shit from the 80’s, lol. They live the shit us 30+ folks created. I commend them.
They have a HUGE following in NYC and kill the club scenes by doing what they do dance wise at these boring parties we frequent now a days but then again you “some” of you folks may not be in the NYC area or then again frequent any NYC clubs
I gave the video to Gotty in hopes of getting some positive feedback from my TSS community since this music is really for the kids & not 30yr old avid “hip hop” listeners and i’m 35yrs old. Yeah I said it!
What’s so phony? This music is for the kids, need I say more. I have a 8yr old daughter who loves the Retro Kidz & the colorful music video. She knows nothing of Chill Rob G or Snap which is the beauty of it all, pure innocence. Expose the kids to something fresh & new. Not the same old bump & grind, bling bling, etc thats on 106 & Park. Lets be fresh for the kids yall..
Don’t take it so seriously TSS commenters, its only music which wont hurt your lifestyle, iPod, or pockets but it’ll mos def increase ours over at Triggerhappy/Brobot..lol (just joking…but i’m serious)
Hey, last thing. If you see the video on TV or hear the song on the radio, don’t hate just turn the channel/station…one!
As always…RMF!!!
Reem aka Saul Goode!

Jurassic 5 was Retro…now that’s funny!!
^ y’know….actually….that is a good point….I’d rather have a little girl watching this than a Rick Ross video
true
dag
well im 19
& actually, one thing I DO gripe about is the lack of any “dancing” I came up doing back in my day….so if they do the damn thang and the whole 9, sheeittt…Saul Goode then!
My TSS community is killing me.
Nuff said.
Opinions are like well you all know the rest…lol

maybe its cuz some rappers i kno actually r gimmicky..maybe these kids r jus bein themselves….
*guilt induced by Kareem killing beer buzz*
Just remember, its for the kids…
Mr. 19yr old..you have every right to dislike. Just understand why they exist. They call it “Will Smith” rap. Fun and exciting and they want yall to dance…take that take that!
Don’t go to the club and stand around, its more to going to the club than drinking, smoking, and getting numbers. You made a good point Teef, the club scene is wack now, no one dances anymore except the girls who dance with other girls which i saw last nite at the club…lol
Wow, this is the most I’ve ever written on TSS.
I’m glad yall like the video though!

Gotty…can you just erase all my comments, please?
lol
yo….for the record….I ALWAYS look for an opportunity to bust out The Running Man, Roger Rabbit and whatever 80’s-90’s dances up in the club…
i aint gonna lie..i mite enjoy dis in the club…since i actually enjoy donk in the club
Well, my blunt is in the air & I’m chillin…keep the beer buzz Teef or have another one on me…and Gotty keep the hate i mean messages..
just joking yall but what’s really a joke is what’s on
I wonder if the hightop fade is ever gonna come back in style?
whats on?
a drunk mind speaks with a sober tongue
bleh
fock
hightop fade is comin back down here in houston…sumwut
Fuck them I’m not old…………..
As a very tough critic of hip hop i gotta agree with Kareem and say that this is personally not for me, but I ain’t mad at them for doing their thing. We do need some new influences in hip hop for da kids, and as long it’s not a gimmick I’m all for teaching the young bucks about some classic hip hop shit.
I’m not even gonna front, I can remember bumpin some Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince when I was coming up. We may laugh now, but that shit was crackin when it first came out. Even the good Doctor was cuttin that shit up back in the day on his Rodium Mixtapes….
‘Reem, good stuff…
The flashing backgrounds had me trippin’ on some ol’ Max Headroom type ish…
Not my cup of tea. What I do notice is a frightening trend to sign acts to recording contracts not because of talent; but because of net buzz ie Cassie, Souljah Boy. It’s one thing with they could actually rhyme and they used the retro style to
introduce folks to their music. But it seems that they said hell we got people’s attention lets put out a song.
“They have a HUGE following in NYC and kill the club scenes….This music is for the kids, need I say more. I have a 8yr old daughter who loves the Retro Kidz”
So what “club scenes” are they killin? All ages welcome?
not feelin it at all…why if you think its gimmicky it gotta be hate? if you think its trash…call it such…who were they before it was hip to be “retro”? and who will the be when the fad fades?
What exactly is this New Era? Is it the old era that they are imitating?
