I ain’t saying “Hey people, someone give up a kidney!” But I don’t think sending up a prayer would be too much to ask from any of us.

Flint, Michigan rapper MC Breed is in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital in Atlanta, where he is on life support due to kidney failure, AllHipHop.com has confirmed. His manager, Darryl Morris, said the rapper, born Eric Breed, was playing a game of pickup basketball yesterday evening (September 5) in Atlanta, when he collapsed and fell unconscious. “He had to be revived three times,” Morris told AllHipHop.com. “He had to be rushed to the hospital where they diagnosed him and told him his kidney’s have failed.”

When I hear the words “kidney failure,” I think of two things.

1. Jay Dee

2. Renal dialysis

While in college, I worked in a hospital to make ends & distinctly remember the dialysis unit being the most depressing. Patients would be there, still mentally alive completely & walking (granted, some struggled to take baby steps) but their skin would almost be withered away & wrinkled, loosely hanging from their bones. Some would stay, others would have to continually come & go for treatment several times a week. And even though they tried to maintain their spirits, you could almost tell that the repeated processes related to the treatment were taking their toll on them.

Keep Breed, his family & friends in your thoughts & prayers.
