For those of you who enjoyed our recent Smoking Session with Girl Talk, take a look at his live performance from the 2008 Roskilde Festival. Sadly, fans were not allowed on stage at this show. If you’ve ever been to a Girl Talk show, you know that the stage is usually more packed with people than the rest of the venue. Although it lacks the complete insanity that normally takes place at the majority of his shows, it still gives you and idea of what it’s like to see him live.

Bury me smilin’
with G’s in my pocket
have a party at my funeral
let every rapper rock it
let tha hoes that I use to know
from way before
kiss me from my head to my toe
give me a paper and a pen
so I can write about my life of sin
a couple bottles of Gin
in case I don’t get in
tell all my people Ima Ridah
nobody cries when we die
we outlaws, let me ride
until I get free
I live my life in tha fast lane
got police chasin me
to my niggas from old blocks
from old crews
niggas that guided me through
back in tha old school
pour out some liquor
have a toast for tha homies
see we both gotta die
but ya chose to go before me
and brothas miss ya while you’re gone
you left your nigga on his own
how long we mourn
life goes on…
Girl Talk… he’s like a bad hipster Moby.
someone know a good site to watch old… or like before 2000, hiphop videos (not clips) but some footages/old itw at radio of that cuz youtub and daily that’s okay, but no really old vid. thx in ad. peace!
I don’t want to come off as a hater, but I have some issues with Girl Talk. It bothers me he does not trace the history of the music he makes to the early hip-hop and/or disco djs. Although he may not use turntables and a mixer, his musical lineage starts with the dj. I get the feeling his interest in mixing disparate musical styles probably started when he heard those Soulwax cds a few years back. That being said, there are certainly some interesting moments on his cds. That Boston vs Ludacris joint on Nightripper is pretty dope.
His musical lineage starts with noise music. His early roots were as a noise music performer. Gradually, over time, he stopped fucking around with his samples as much and started doing the sample layering that you hear today. But if you talk to him about influences, he respects DJ’s very much, but only names Shadow as a big DJ influence. To be honest, I don’t know if he was influenced by Soulwax or not.
Canibus vs. Eminem ; was for what ?
