It’s a wrap for Rap City.
I’ve always wanted to say that.
At least for the past five years anyway. This was probably the last standing monument to what BET could’ve been. From back in the day with “The Mayor” Chris Thomas & Prince Dajour up until about 2004, it was somewhat relevant. After Tigger left, it pretty much the end of that story. I’d occasionally peep a “freestyle” here and there, or maybe when one of my homies was guest DJ’ing I’d watch him get introduced, but that’s about it.
Rumors of cancellation have been looming and lurking since the end of last year, and it now finally seems like the people who cut the check, will also cut the show come October 26th.
This is like watching a very small, badly engineered, Black version of the Titanic sinking.
Terrence and Rocsi are sending out job applications on the low right now.

Yall still wanna say Hip Hop ain’t dead. I can’t wait until they take that cooning show 106& Park off. That show shows no Hip Hop its misleading the youth. Rap City was good in its earlier years. They need to take BET off so we can all throw a party lol
LOL Rakim was on there giving real MC tutorials with Tigga, but the camera would turn to Tig and back to Rakim and it’d be like he disappeared or some shit. Tig was playing along like “what the hell just happened?” This is when “The Master” was coming out and he was acting like some old teacher with powers or something

I would’ve had more sympathy for BET if they never canceled Uncut. And on some real ish, not only was Uncut coo for azz & tiddies, but I would’ve never even heard of dudes like Mighty Casey was it not for that show.

I think that was the same episode.
Stopped watching Rap City after Big Lez & Joe Cleezy bounced. I’ve never really liked Tigger at all; his whole persona sems a bit contrived. Who the fuck needs Rap City??? Or even 106 & Park??? All you need is the internet now!!!
ps: I saw former 106 & Park host AJ on some “HipHop Poker” show on television over the weekend. I can’t remember the exact name of the show but Ed Lover was hosting it. Pretty interesting concept though: Rappers, comedians, models and pretty much any Black entertainers play poker and shoot the shit cracking jokes. Kind of cool.

you should’ve seen it coming, considering that they never actually had a permanent host when Tigga left–Mad Lynx was too suburban, and Q-45 acted like he knew he had something better to do. And the carousel of guest hosts? Rap City officially died when Tigga had his last episode.

I think I might have saw that Poker show too. I thought I saw some Spades show like that too, but I’m not sure if it was on BET or some other channel. either way it sucked. They have the worse shows.

At least I got to see DJ Miss Saigon last week…That girl’s a honey! (When she has blonde hair) Remember the good old days when half of BET’s shows were music related? Now it’s down to 106th &Park….I used to actually like Rap City’s Top 10…Now BET is going to be reruns of old sitcoms,old movies and Judge Karen…At least they have new episodes of Comic View…
