Seems like more female rappers are doing jail time than their male counterparts, living the life that these dudes talk about. Freshly added to the list of rappers turned inmates is none other than Da Brat.
A DeKalb County judge sentenced rapper Da Brat to three years in prison Friday for hitting an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader in the head with a nearly full liquor bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.
Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also sentenced the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service. Harris also must get substance abuse treatment and a mental evaluation and attend anger management classes.
We wish you well, Shawntae.
And not to be outdone, Felicia Pearson aka “Snoop” was hemmed up on a weed charge after investigators came to her home with a warrant for not cooperating in a murder investigation.
Authorities said Pearson watched Lashley stab three men, killing one, after an argument that began outside New York Fried Chicken on The Block in the fall of 2005, and she is expected to be called as a witness during the trial.
According to court records, a warrant was issued July 1 after Pearson ignored prosecutors’ phone calls, failed to appear for an April 21 trial date and “informed the prosecuting attorney that she wished to have no further personal contact with her about this case.”
Snoop has already spoken to investigators and told them that she had no involvement in the stabbing. “He [Roseborough] ain’t try to flirt with me or no [shit] like that,” Pearson told investigators. “It was so tight in there…I’m like what [shit] man get out of my face.”
All of which, Mundy responded to by saying…

#2 – that snoop shit won’t hold up…a warrant is only good for what they were lookin for…if it was a bench warrant, they can only get the person; similarly, if cops have a warrant to look for guns and they find coke, for example, i’m pretty sure they can take it but they can’t get you for it…don’t quote me on that

Wow… Da B-r-rah is going to the bing. I’m from chi’s westside… i never knew her personally, but starting out in the 606-fo’-fo’, i always heard about this “shorty who could really really spit…” cats were usually talking about her.
You’d see her in parks and just around the way. Again, i didn’t know her, but you saw her around alot… She’d clown dudes in cyphers. I’m talkin back in the 80s, she would just murderlize folks.
There’s something about Chi’s mix of 2nd generation southern black folks, bad schools, and street life that revolved around pimping and verbal hustlers that just brought out a crazy style of talk from emcees and citizenry alike.
That countrified, rapidfire mouthpiece hustle was just in you. Even if you couldn’t rhyme to save you life had that countrified street talk going. Especially if you were on the westside and in the wild 100s like we were.
Lyrically, Brat was that chick… even if she doesn’t have the consistency of catalog to reflect that.
I think her family moved back south or something by the time i was about 18 or so… then she hooked up wit JD, etc.
But 3 years for smackin’ somebody? Wow…

I ran into her a few times over the years doing industry stuff. She’s always been pretty cool with “regular folk” which makes this kinda odd.

Granted, I realize that busting someone in the head with a full bottle of rum isn’t great, but she’s going to get 3 years for this and only a year of probation for the shit in 2000? That doesn’t add up.
