Remember when things used to happen for a reason?
Now, I know The Game has an album to promote in a dying industry and would feed off fumes to fuel a beef with Mr. Carter. I am also aware that he also has crews that he’s trying to put on and a supposed retirement that he seems to realize will be a mistake. Even then, this seems like a desperately stretched reach.
“I can be a fan of Jay and still rip him limb from limb and still be a fan. After I finish him off, I’m still going to listen to Reasonable Doubt afterwards… I’m going to make him mad enough to where he has to say something.”
If you have not heard the interview, it is advisable to peep it and see how much dung the kid flings at Mr. Hova. He also apologizes strategically and sneaks in sly complimentary remarks between threats on his girl and his grandmother.
All because some anonymous person alleges that they somehow approached Mr. Carter, something most journalists will attest is just as easy as breaking into Fort Knox in broad daylight using nothing more than a spoon and a grain of salt.
Mr. Anonymous then somehow spoke to Shawn, who is known for not being talkative. Anon further states that Jay (who won’t even speak on beefs he is having) decided to release an acidic statement about a beef he is not having…at Wimbledon.
Word?
I did not know grapevines got that long and twisty. What happened to Game proclaiming he had no beef with Jay on his first album? Does this mean that if Jay-z stays silent, Jayceon’s going to backpedal on that Eminem statement (again), and wage war on Mr. Mathers as well?
I guess suicide is one of the many ways to go out with a bang.

Game’s handlers may love the attention his interview gave to his upcomming project; but I don’t think he did this for pub. Like the Joker told Harvey Dent, he doesn’t PLAN; he does!!! He is basically a nutty name dropping MC.

Game is a name-dropping spotlight whore. It’s a damned shame, because the guy has talent. He really doesn’t have to resort to all this schoolgirl bullshit to be relevant, but since he does, it makes anyone with a functioning brain lose respect for him.
If he REALLY has that much of a problem with Jay, why doesn’t he just walk up to him like his boy supposedly did at Wimbedon, then slap the shit out of him? Don’t write some bitch-assed song/threat about the man, then put it on the album and expect people of reasonable intelligence to take that shit seriously.

Game is a dude who’s music I enjoy. I’m a big fan of his first two albums, and this new one seems like another banger, but that’s where it stops. Game, and sometimes Kanye and Nas, are artists whose music I bang, but I can’t stand them. They just need to shut the fuck up sometimes and just make some damn music. Game: you can put together some great albums, you don’t need extra fuckery for sales or props.
Rap fans need to take a step back and BREATHE sometimes. This isn’t going to alter the course of history, its not that serious.
If people take that much time to analyze every time The Game disses someone, then they should take the time to find out how competitive he is. This “beef” with Jay is nothing more than wanting to be the top dog in the industry. Theres nothing personal about it… it’s all rhymes.
This really is no different than small rap bloggers taking shots at Gotty, when you’re at the top you should expect it.

Damn when did Jay Knowles become untouchable? So he gets the best beats from the best producers and swags his way through songs. Not jockin’ Game see (don’t worry the freestyle that is coming out to that beat is what will really ignite this beef) but the only place I see Jay having the clear advantage in a beef with Game is with the haters. Jay’s followers are like a cult and Games haters are the same. So in the court of popular opinion of course Jays going to get all the praise, but does he really want to chance having a whole coast and a whole slew of DJ’s turn their back on him? And does he really want to put Beyonce in the crossfire? Will the backlash affect her career?
Chuck, I understand what you’re saying, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be on top. My thing is, the music should speak for itself, without resorting to the World Wrestling Entertainment/pro boxing interview-style tactics to generate hype.
Then again, this is SHOW business…so I hope all these antics translate into record sales.

Great… another cat fight. Jay has nothing to gain going at Game. Relatively speaking, Game’s too new of an artist to merit the attention. Their also in different lanes as brands, so i don’t see the point of this. it’s like M.O.P. picking a fight with Outkast or something.

There probably isn’t, but I don’t understand why he’s worth anyones time. I used to like some of his songs…., but I’ve never been into the dude’s CDs. The only idea I’ve got as to why people respect Jay-Z is that he’s good at marketing and making cash offa merchandise and other artists. I don’t even like the artists he signs though. The best artist he ever signed IMO is Juelz, and that ended.
Reasons to respect/diss Jay-z:
1) 60+ Million records sold worldwide in a dozen years.
2) Almost a billion in accrued wealth
3) 11 Platinum Plus studio albums
….and whatever else you can dig up on wikipedia and google that you may deem historic.
Plus, he properly represents the culture and has been doing so every year since he came in.
You dont have to like him. But acting like just because you dont like him, he’s irrelevant is being perversely subjective.
And listing Juelz, technically, was not a Jay signature. That deal had been on the table before Jay took the seat.
All the Game is trying to do is get people talking and hopefully they’ll buy his album(and not just download it). So what? Since when does being super lyrical = making good ol’ Hip-Hop? Are the Beatnuts lyrical? Was Biz Markie lyrical (or a writer of his own rhymes)? Were Nice-N-Smooth lyrical? They all still made great records. It’s hard to find a rapper more lyrical than Canibus, but he makes boring ass records.
Listen to a song like “Old English” on the Doctor’s Advocate. Tell me how many rappers out today would put out a song like that. Dude cleverly interweaved “life stories” over the Old English theme (the beer, the typestyle) over a completely non-radio friendly Hi-Tek burner. Tell me that’s not good Hip-Hop and I’ll tell you to go choose another genre. The man is an idiot, but I respect anyone who puts that much heart into the music.
