So, Diddy made $35 Mill this year. I’m not one to hate on another cat for getting his but where’s that Danity Kane money? What about that Cheri Dennis and Day 26? Where is the artist development for G-Dep? Why was Black Rob still breakin’ in houses while being signed to the roster?
My boy put me on to this video of comedian Maronzio Vance crackin’ jokes about all the artists Puffy screwed over at Bad Boy. There’s a lot of truth in what he’s saying though. It’s also a shame how a lot of these cats went from The Four Seasons to Hot Pockets in record time at the hands of Sean Combs.
Even though it’s a rumor, it’s not that surprising to hear Day 26 supposedly didn’t get that tour money Puffy promised yet. Speakin’ of how long do you guys give Day 26 and Danity Kane before they become broke and/or irrelevant?
Honestly, is there ever any hope for Bad Boy artists to have a sustained career following the shadow cast by Sean Combs?

The producers are the ones recycling the beats. They are theones who know who flipped the sample first. Jeezy is buying hot beats. and for real alot of his hardcore fanbase downsouth or dudes in the hood probably heard the sigel record but that’s about it. When you go to artist led/celbrity driven labels you will never earn more money or be as famous as your label head. Glc & consequence are good artist but belive me kanye wants them to get thier shine becuase they deserve but let them have a song that gets a top live t.v. show apearence or magazine cover over him thier will b problems.It’s happen in the past i.e. currency-cash money, diplomats movement-rocafella, and killer mike-stankonia records.

Not one artist has managed to sustain a career under Puff. This Making The Band thing is the most consistent group of acts he’s had in years. And he’s had talent on the label. But whether it’s death, jail time, or just a lack of attention & promotion, no one blows up on Bad Boy. Except Diddy, of course.

It’s true that Puff has shitted on alot of his artist; but he can’t take the blame for Black Rob being an ASS. Everytime he had a chance to kick off his career, he gets caught up in some bullshit. For all of his talent, he rather continue on his path of failure. Now Craig Mack , I wouldn’t blame him if he went up Puff’s head like that barber did to Suge.
It’s a shame too, cuase when dude was all about the music, he was turning out some quality products. From Mary J., Jodeci, Heavy D, BIG, Faith, Total, 112 to what he puts out now is a loooong stretch. Now he’s all about his brand. This record label shit is secondary.
Puffy’s gonna do Puffy, & when you deal w/ him YOU ALREADY KNOW what you’re getting yourself into… ala Don King.

BadBoy Records died when Biggie passed away. Listen to 50 Cent, he knows what he speaks of: “Puffy too busy sellin’ pimple cream”. Puffy has branched off into different areas of business, which is cool provided that you can maintain your focus in all of the many facets that you’re involved in. In Puffy’s case I don’t think that is evident at all.

I admire Puffy’s eutrapanuerism (*). How I see it is, this is business. This type of ish happens in ALL industries. I’m sure those toy factories have come short with that last shipment of Bratz dolls because the drug lords hidden opium was spoted.
