Not many rappers have dropped 18 albums since 1992.
The ones who have, well, you’d assume they’d be notable, right? Why else would they keep that relentless grind up? The money? Not these days.
If you’re Andre Nickatina, you do it because you can.
Through his monotonous vocal tone, almost equivalent to a politician, the artist formally known as Dre Dog has spit his cocaine raps and Bay-Area braggadocio longer than some of these new acts have been alive. No need for Regis, though, diversity is Andre’s lifeline. Even though the San Fran staple has never achieved mainstream success, his talent is evident in the form of assorted flows and the ability to tackle an array of topics over any type of beat (evidence below).
Nickatina may not be a legend. But, once you’ve heard him tell a tale, you’ll want to make room on your hard drive.
Andre Nickatina – Fly Like A Bird (Feat. Dubee)

Dope shit Beware. I was just thinking the other day about doing an homage to Nickatina. Dude is a certified legend.
I couldn’t even begin to pick a favorite album, so much ill music in the catalog.
One glance at that pic, and I instantly recognized the pedigree…
only niggas from The Bay wear their hair like that….lol

Naw, I remember hearing his Is in Cali. Some people liked him, some didn’t. I never got down with him. Couldn’t relate. But dude is a legend.
Doesn’t Too $hort have close to that many records?
since this might turn into a Yay post, I gotta ask…
whatever happened to that dude Khayree? he produced some slappers for Ray Luv, Mac Mall, and them…
“Zip it up, and zip it out!”
@teef…
i got a dope KHAYREE CD. “it raining game” by mac dre, produced by K, is the fucking jam.
I just got an email from Khayree the other day. He said he just re did his whole studio.
he’s got a dope podcast series up, a Young Black Brothra one that features most of his new stuff and then Khayree music which is more like a radio show.
Glad you brought dude up, that dude is a straight up musician and sorely overlooked.
I’ve got a great interview with him that was never published. One day though….

Ayo for Yayo was my crew’s anthem in high school. And only 1 or 2 dudes actually messed with yay at the time.
We actually drove down to portland for a concert and dude arrived like 5 hours late to the show and they were pullng people out of the crowd to come up and rock the mic while we all waited.
Many fights broke out that night.
And my boy ended up in the drunk tank via portland po po.
Good times.
^ LOL @ The Vietnamese restaurant pics on your blog
A.Nickatina been putting in work for some time.

Ayo for Yayo isnt even Nicky rapping. It’s a shame because it’s on ever college kids itunes and they are missing out on Dre dog in a big way
@ Doxx….
I read that article while diggin for my post. 360 shit man. Small world.
@ Teef….
WTMF is this Snoop DoggY DOGG cd doing, coming all outta left field!? If you would’ve given me this 8 years ago, I would’ve died. Where did this come from? Why is no one making a big deal about it? So much unlreleased Dre and Snoop, with DOC George Clinton Warren and Nate???
Is this because of Death Row’s exposed ass? Are they FINALLY clearing out the vaults? Are you telling me that we might actually get to see the a circa-2004 Crooked I album???????
Or, are you just passing along a link.
@ Teef….
Okay. Unfortunately, I can calm down now.
I DLed that Snoop demo, and its only 6 songs. Three I’d heard before (county blues, 187 (it’s on) and Let’ em Understand), two I hadn’t (The message and Do You Remember, which is over Me MySelf and I).
The last song on there was True To The Game, which I did post about not too long ago. Call me steve glass, but I’d been under the impression it was done around 95 on Westwood.
The track list is a pic, though, and it’s death row labeled. It has all those songs from above listed too. i wanna know where the rest of em are.
I pretty sure he’s from Lakeview like the Ill Mannered Posse
This is why I love this site… I write for hiphopruckus.com and I love this site more… Yo, being from the Bay and remembering the Rompilations and the the Blackalations and Dru Down, 415, 4Tay, RBL, etc… This makes me miss the bay even more! My favorite shit from Dre was “3AM” though… “Doin’ donuts that the pigs just couldn’t eat…” Oh man. That is one of my favorite songs ever, period, in life! Go back and get that old Dre Dog shit too… He’s a legend that most people don’t even know about. Crazy. Oh and that last post about IMP??? That took me BACK!!! DAMN!
King Nicky is a boss. San Quinn, a fillmore legend, does the verses on Ayo for Yayo. Thanks for showing the Bay some love.
it’s all about “baking soda in minnesota”
Lakeview. Hunter’s Point. Fillmore…King Nicky rules The Bay.
Dre Dog is to Frisco like ‘Face is to Houston. Real Talk.
Good looks to TSS on giving a living legend his respect.
PEACE
Big up the freaks eatin strawberries!
anyone got the Mp3 for this joint yet? farrrrrrrkin ‘ell!
