Gotty knew as well as I did…
Witchdoctor is the most forgotten member of the Dungeon Family. Which probably makes his debut disc A S.W.AT. Healin’ Ritual a physical piece of amnesia.
Call it bad timing. With DF brethren Outkast delivering an album that defied the laws of nature as well Goodie Mob handing out seconds of soulful foodfor thought, ATL had selected its all-star lineup to represent for ‘98.
That didn’t make S.W.A.T. (Southwest Atlanta for the acronym-impaired) any less of a primetime player though. Phonte once said this album had the best production ever to come out of the Organized Noize camp. Living up to it’s name, S.W.A.T. featured layers of murky drum patterns, accented with loads of harmonious tribal instrumentation, creating a sound equivalent to acupuncture on wax. And with the underground favorite “Dez Only 1,” the hypnotic “4 In The Temple,” and an outstanding cameo from Cee-Lo Green, Witchdoctor conjured up the kind of black magic that won’t cause you bodily harm.
Don’t sleep on Witchdoc’s voodoo any longer.

I remmeber this cat…
he suffered from bad timing, as well as a bad 1st single
which if I’m not mistaken was “Holiday” both he and Coolbreeze were outshined by Outkast, and Goodie Mob
Question:
Is there anyone out there that knows how to use Auto-Tune
I’ve been messing with it for awhile and it’s frustrating
TRYIN TO USE AUTO-TUNE…..
u lost..but naw i cant help u
Is there anyone out there that knows how to use Auto-Tune?

Find Yung Berg
This was one of the few DF projects that I just couldn’t get into. I thought “Holiday” was an ill song though…and a weird choice for a single, let alone the first one.
just DL’d this joint earlier…used to be my shit back in the day…anybody heard that new joint he put out recently?
Don’t forget about the other DF member Lil Will
one of the most SLEPT on albums in hip-hop history!
IMO the production, Witchdoctor’s lyrics/originality, and the depth of the entire album made this one of the top 5 offerings from Dungeon Family. Saw the video for “Holiday” and that sold the deal for me. It might sound dated to some, but this album is essential to “southern” hiphop.

^^^ shit’s kinda chill, plus there’s hot chicks
I thought Holiday was a good choice for the single. Not many tracks on that album would have made good singles. Witchdoctor just wasnt for alot of ppl. I use to play that album for ppl and either they loved it or hated it.
Never liked anything of his since this album and stopped checking for him in 2003 but think hes still releasing albums.
@ Black Canseco – u were lookin 4 this? i posted it last night…

love that Georgia Plains song.
These grounds are holyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
LOL@ AmpGeez :)
you have step on holy ground with this one! kats slept on this album so hard that they should given some ammonia to wake them. i really miss going to that island!
Ok.. this one I missed. I ONLY caught up to Sleepy’s Theme like 3 – 4 years ago which also dropped in 98
this is a southern classic right here. where’s cool breeze when you need him?
Damn, thats taking it back on this one…I’ve been looking for Witchdoctor material for a minute. I wonder if the album he put out with Adult Swim is somewhere around the internuts…
I remember Holiday being on the Bullworth soundtrack. I always liked Witchdoctor, but never knew he put out an album until around ’03. I still love Smooth Shit and Dez Only 1 (God sent us a warrior!) and he had a really dope song w/ Cee-Lo singing his ass off on it. This album is a must for anyone who’s a fan of early Dungeon Family shit. Not the sorry ass Dungeon Family album sound when they all tried to sell-out at once and cash in. I hope Goodie Mob gets back together for real like I heard they are.
@ Kool
I can tell you love this shit. The song about going to the island w/ that chick is a banger, too. lol
