Time Magazine’s proclamation that Lil Wayne is the Best Rapper Alive is quite irresponsible. Time DOES carry a lot of clout and its readership is significant, so anyone reading that article is left with the impression that Lil Wayne is the best that hip-hop has to offer.
SO not true…which is a disservice to hip-hop, ’cause what can happen is, just off that article, some people will blindly support Lil Wayne or casually dismiss hip-hop as a whole thinking this dude is our mouthpiece.

We can’t blame TIME for crowning Wayne! The new school’s most improved emcee got treated by most fans like the overachiever in class for the past couple of years. The kid Wale made a song about it called “The Hype.” Are there more talented rappers than Weezy out right now? Yep!!! But who else sold a milli in the first week? Maybe we need to stop being so critical of a Nas or Jay-Z, and start supporting the emcees who are truly greater.

We CAN blame TIME… but you are very right in the other sense of supporting who we think is better. We sit and claim all these “better” artists but then turn around and don’t support.
Im not saying buy everything they put out.. but if its quality, and you know it is… BUY that shit.
