T.I. - Whatever You Like
GENERAL By Gotty™ on July 16, 2008 at 11:37 pmI nearly made mention of the new T.I. track “Whatever You Like,” which is supposed to be the “new” lead single off of Paper Trail. But my mom reminded me yesterday that if you don’t have anything good to say…aww fuck it.
Even as a tried & true T.I. fan who’s got every album, some doubles and even vinyl copies of others, I’m saying that joint ain’t hittin. Well, the Jim Jonsin’ beat is but the singing is on some other level. Musically, I can’t really say I’m liking what I’ve heard thus far from the upcoming album. “No Matter What” was focused both lyrically & with the production. Everything after that thus far, not so much. I’m gonna let this one skip spinnin’ because it’s good to hear him taking a lighted approach with so many heavier things ahead.
But don’t say I never gave you nothing or allowed my opinion to interfere with delivering the goods.

EDIT - For the DJs, the clean version with slightly different lyrics.

I think I’m just going to stop listening to these early, song-by-song leaks for a while or maybe just with certain projects. It worked for me with Nas because today was my first time listening to Untitled, minus a few tracks, and it made the experience refreshing. My copy of IPATTG2 finally came in the mail today as well so overall, I’ve had a good day musically.
Sean Paul track below isn’t too bad though and the R.Les track is that sticky icky. The Nas track? It’s basically “Aggin Hatred” as an acapella.

Wale Feat. Young Chris - Whole Time
Robin Thicke Feat. Freeway - Magic (Remix)
Ryan Leslie - Break This Down
Lloyd Feat. The Dream - I Need Love
Flo-Rida Feat. T-Pain - Gotz To See (ft T-Pain) (Prod. by Mannie Fresh)

i thought paper trail was gonna be decent with him saying he’s writing again but.. damn. wtf is this?
The Riley voice went off in my head like “is this aggin singin country?”
What? No video’s?
WTF?
Since you brought up IPATTG2, I’d like to say I was highly disappointed. There were more songs like Super Clean/Super Hard than there were Pressure. I’m still ridin for Mike Bigga though.
*comes to TSS dressed like a Lollipop kid, with a BIG ASS LOLLIPOP
*turns on “Whatever You Like”*
*does the cabbage patch and charleston with a sambo smile to match*
Out in 12 months?

=======================================
My expectations were higher mayne. I can only count three tracks that I was really feeling (2 Sides, 10 Gs, Pressure). And i heard those tracks before the album dropped. I’m not giving up on the album though, I’ma listen to it a few more times.
That there don’t move the meter!!!
this is like back in the day when I used to dl off of limewire or napster and I’d think I’m getting a new track, but it’s just a prank or some shit…
a “lollipop” knockoff? really, Tip? Did he have to make this song as part of his plea agreement or something? wtf
Damn Gotty,
You had to get that Mike online?? I guess that’s a perk of dwelling in the same city as your favorite artist. Best Buys down here always have a few in stock. Speaking of living in the same town as your favorite artist, is it easy to come across Count Bass D albums up there in Tenn?? I’ve been searching for that “Act Your Waist Size” album down here for a minute but no happs.
Same here on the Killer Mike CD (shrug), but “Pressure” makes me want to break out the old black White Sox hat. Comin out feelin’ about ten pounds lighter. It’s time to revisit that video.
TI should have sold his last three singles to Will Smith.
I WANNA A VIDEO 4 THAT ! THAT ! THAT ! THAT !
Mike’s album has been getting constant rotation since I got it…Dude spits heat rocks!! Goodbye( City of Dope ) paints about as vivid a picture as you possibly can with the english language IMO…
Waiting on Murs and Kardi next.
And wassup with that killer mike album review? Can’t find anybody to write a review and give the album that controversial “3.5 cigs” that everyone loves!?! ;[)
IPATTG2 was tight work, every track from #4 on gets heavy play…If you were looking for a 100% “political” or “pseudo-revolutionary” album you were gonna be SOL…killer mike said “some mornings I wake up and watch CNN …some mornings I wake up and roll a blunt”. Its alot like the original IPATTG; the disc 1 I wanted to throw out the car window but disc 2 is a BEAST and a HALF and still gets MUCH play.
^^ Disc 1 is sick!!
“Juggernaut”
“Eff U, Pay Me”
“Gat Totin’”
“Promise I Will Not Lose”
“The Next Beesh”
“One More Gram”
C’mon man!
Disc 1 may be Hot but it can’t hold a flame to Disc 2
The vivid story telling on “Dueces Wild”
Grittyness of “You dont want this life”
The wittiness & observation on “thats life”:
-they said I dis Oprah/ and Im like so what/ I’ll never get to jump up & down on the sofa!?!
It ain’t sayin this cuz everybody else sayin it, but I ain’t feelin none of these T.I. tracks, cept for What Up Man.
I usually don’t even comment negatively if I don’t like a track because it really is no benefit to someone else whom may like it.
This is the exception. I like T.I.P, but he got to come with that HEAT!
