“The Gambler” – Former NBA Referee Tim Donaghy Sentenced
SMOKE BREAK By Gotty™ on July 29, 2008 at 4:55 pmDegenerate (called a degenerate with love from a former degenerate) NBA ref Tim Donaghy was sentenced to fifteen months in prison for his role in the betting scandal that plagued the NBA.
“Though we believe no sentence would ever be able to repair or justify the damage caused by this criminal and scoundrel, we are glad to finally put this behind us,” Lamell McMorris, spokesman for the National Basketball Referees Association, said in a statement. “Tim acted in a completely selfish and unforgivable way, and has forever compromised the way people look at sports and officiating. However, NBA referees will continue to officiate with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.”
“I’d say the odds are about 4:1 that he learns what a real flagarant foul is his first night.” – Jesse H.

LOL @ Jesse’s comment
Anybody who thinks Tim is the only ref putting chips on games is a fool.
Office pools, March madness Brackets, over and unders in box scores, injury reports, etc. Everybody bets on sports.
Pete Rose bet on his own teams.
Charles Barkley brags about it.
Jordan bet… and still bets.
Players are betting. Players crews are betting on their behalf.
Tim Donaughy’s only crime was getting caught. Period.
Dude should’ve snitched everybody out just for the hypocritical sanctimonious crap everybody’s pulling on it.
Agreed that a lot of people bet…BUT…Donaughy actually had a hand in manipulating some games. That’s waaaay more involvement than the average sports fanatic.
Sqeek,
yeah, but even the throwing of games and pointshaving aren’t unusual. there’s a reason point spreads are such popular bets–they can be manipulated without throwing a game. plus it’s harder to prove, but everybody knows it when they see it.
Donaughy was sloppy with his hustle; i just refuse to sit on a high horse about dude like everybody in the NBA and sports media has.
besides If you shut down Las Vegas bookies and casinos, 1/4ths of the league wouldn’t know what to do with their game checks.
The cats i knew the booked on NCAA hoops in college hated sports. it bored them, but they knew how to get their paper on; a couple ballers needs walking around money.
2 +2 equals…
funny how everyone’s walking away from dude. Shaq’s drunken 16 bars got more press coverage. that alone tells me that more folks are in on it than cats wanna admit to.

All good points, Canseco, especially about how everyone’s “walking away” from dude…
When you apply a good knowledge of human nature and hood sense to this situation, it ain’t even hard to tell.
