I usually make a trek through the various message boards & forums (SOHH R.I.P.) about once or twice per week, just to keep an ear to the e-streets outside of TSS. While clicking thru OKP, I read up on this thread surrounding a mysterious Mary J. mixtape created by J. Period.
Knowing how he did wonderful work on both Best Of’s for L-Boogie, I wanted it just to see what he created this trip. But upon reading it was scrapped for whatever reasons, I finding it was a long shot…
…Until I checked the inbox this morning.

JP is one of the nicest doing it..
His Man On Fire joint with CL Smooth was velvet smooth.
Dude’s beyond consistent. This MJB joint was supposed to get released early ’07 but nobody could/would clear the samples that it used. (The samples in question were from MJB’s own catalog.) The crap involving this particular mixtape is yet another reminder of how few artists actually own the music they create and therefore can’t greenlight commercial projects involving their songs.
Fortunately, DL’ing has its place.
oh yeah, J.Period’s Roots tape is lava as well.
