“This is my first classic record. The other ones, I was practicing to make this record.”
Few people can match the musical fervor and dedication demonstrated by Killer Mike, especially lately.
Easily one of the most intelligent rappers around, Mike descended upon the WREK 91.1 FM studios in Atlanta this past Thursday, chopped it up with DJ Enchant’d and dropped knowledge on a wide array of subject matters – “Six In The Morning” vs. “Crank That,” his version of “A Milli,” Atlanta’s street wars & detailing “Pressure” – as well as an exclusive freestyle at the end of the interview.
The hype for I Pledge to the Grind Vol. 2 continues to peak. Cop it tomorrow today.
PS: A lot of you had pointed out that Mike took some jabs at Wayne. Peep his response when asked about Mr. F. Baby’s ability to sell.
Killer Mike On Atlanta’s WREK 91.1
Shoutouts to DJs Black Daniels, Enchant’d, Skye Blaze, and the whole Wrekroom fam. Truly appreciate the audio.

Stream Wrekroom Renaissance every Thursday at 9pm at http://ww.wrek.org (or peep archives). If you’re in the Atlanta area, tune in to 91.1 FM at the same time.
PS: Bang bang bang.

i hate 99% of what comes out of the south — but like the new Killer Mike album
As much as I dig Mike’s ish, I don’t understand the Weezy shots. Seems beneath Him to go at such an easy target.
^ why not aim for the one who’s perceived to be the top dog? Isn’t part of the core of hip-hop that spirit of competition?
Who really thinks Wayne is the top dog, though?
Play it how you want, but sales do matter lol. And from that perspective, Wayne’s top dog. Let’s be real – he SHITTED on everybody sales-wise. Mariah, Usher, Kanye…name anyone on the urban side of things & he crushed them.
Also, you’ve got those like Jay, Kanye, Jeezy, etc etc et al deferring to him as the best doing it right now (arguably) so…why not take a shot @ him in that regard.
Plus, I’m no authority but like i said before, Mike’s taken shots @ him before IMO. The reasons why? well, we can speculate but to many, Wayne is the perceived to be “the South.” Does the whole South believe that? Obviously not.

Tell me Wayne ain’t on top when he’s got Ursher Raymond pissed @ his sales lol
I wouldn’t call it classic, but it’s def. superior. The type of album thats too good to sell, unfortunately.
I just think that Dude sells records but that means nothing to heads that support real Hip-Hop. Mike is in another bracket in terms of content & to get into a “beef” with another artist only detracts from the overall mission/message. Especially a “beef” that seems to stem from nowhere?
And Wayne ain’t the South, not by a long shot.
IPATTG2 is on My shopping list today. Along with “Untitled”, I haven’t been amped to actually lay down some cash for a new CD in a minute but with Cube & Game dropping this summer too, I actually have a couple of reasons.
50 Cent now has said he will sell a million albums in a week by year’s end when he drops before i self destruct in the 4th quarter…considering his lat album didn’t crack 700k in week 1 – and took a good minute to break a milli — and the G unit album is going to do what 115k — he has NO SHOT! 50’s music has SUCKED since Get Rich or Die Tryin.
Lil Wayne C3 > Killer Mike’s new album…but i enjoyed the album more then I expected.
Taking shots at Wayne isnt necessarily below him, but
a) He didnt bring the subject matter up, the interviewer did
b) He wasnt the least bit immature about it.
Mike is that dude.
Cop the album. Twice and once for a friend.

If You make a joint dissing someone as high profile as Wayne, You won’t have to bring it up. Mike handled it as expected, but if Wayne doesn’t respond (which I doubt He will), it’s sorta like pissing in the wind. Concentrate on building the Killer Mike/Grind Time brand & leave the beefing to Cats with nothing better going on.
I WANT A FUCKING VIDEO CLIP FOR THAT ! THAT ! THAT ! THAT !
If Mike’s album *fingers crossed* gets some major momentum going, Wayne might HAVE TO respond…whether it be wax or interview.
And let’s face it, MAD mofos think Wayne’s running the south. The dude has fans and people that actually GO OUT AND BUY THE ALBUM – so WHATEVER that demographic is, it shows and proves when it’s time to put them dollars up.
I do concur, sir. But is it beef though?
I mean, quite frankly, I openly have a problem with Wayne being heralded the way he is. And I think that is one of the MAIN thorns in Hip-Hop’s side right now; fans view him as a god, as though he pisses gold and shit’s diamonds. When really, his shit just pisses me off. No pun. Not to say he’s wack, but definitely overrated.
I think how fans view him, is an issue, and it needs to be addressed.
And who better to address an issue than Killer Mike?
his first classic record !!!
??? with shawty lo on a feat. lol
Nah Killa Mika is hard
…some tracks are ill!!!
It seems like hate to be mad at another nigga’s shine. If someone likes Wayne, any argument to convince them otherwise is going to come off as hate, regardless of the intent. I could care less about the next cat. Another nigga getting paper only makes me grind harder.
Honestly though yall, I haven’t seen anyone with an actual purchased copy of the Carter 3.
Me either D.S. I’m not too say they ain’t out there but I went to Best Buy just yesterday and surprisingly the album that was sold out was Here I Stand
Was in Best Butt last the Tuesday it dropped and that sh*t was gonzo….
What’s REALLY good?
I saw racks of TC3 sittin in there. Literally…racks. So we know that joint was shipped in anticipation of selling.
Man, that nigga Killer Mike made for a very interesting interview. I always liked Mike’s music but really wasn’t checking for him but i love that new joint “Pressure” and this interview..damn…excuse me while i go cop that “Pledge to…”. be right back.
I’m yet to see a purchased copy of C3. The day it dropped, I was told it was sold out, and that made sense.
But next day, and every day since, every Best Buy I’ve been in is stocked.
Billboard feigns digital sales.
Killer “Killa” Mike !
Okay I missed the Lil Wayne diss again…in the interview Mike just made a point about making money off the game and thinking 100K was better than A Milli and for as hard as the beat was, it could have been a “song”…all that = real spit.
Fav lines off the interview
“Some mornings I wake up and watch CNN…some mornings I wake up and roll a blunt”
“Some yall go eat over by Lenox…Imma go eat over at the Varsity”
“
Killer Mike needs to concentrate on his career and stop worrying about the next man. He came off sounding really petty.
wow…been gone for a mintue and just got the new nas…that track “testify”….speechless…to dope
