“Tie My Hands”
AUDIO By TSSCrew on June 3, 2008 at 9:13 pmWords By Jada G.
“No governor, no help from the mayor. Just a steady beating heart and a wish and a prayer…”
It’s hard to pinpoint when the tide’s turned, but it seems like overnight, I started paying attention to young Hot Boy turned self-proclaimed “Best Rapper Alive.” And with all the anticipation surrounding Tha Carter III, good or bad, it would be hard not to take notice. Lil’ Wayne leaves the cocky swagger and clever wordplay for perhaps the most vulnerable moment on the album, “Tie My Hands.” He reflects on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, just a memory for some but a way of life for the people of New Orleans. “They keep telling us freedom, but they couldn’t even leave a ladder.” Kanye’s production and Robin Thicke’s falsetto infuse soul into the track, that allows him to step away from the persona and just speak from an honest place:
“Born right here in the USA, but due to tragedy, looked on by the whole word as a refugee. So, accept my emotions. Do not take it as an offensive gesture. It’s just the epitome of my soul.”
Real talk.

Wale on the come up!
well written. Good Read. I like this song. Interesting how the effects of the hurricane are still present in state and fresh in the minds of her inhabitants. Sad stuff. It’s fucked up how they do us.
…and once again in typical sickening internet writer fashion you have managed to turn any subject in the world into one about yourself: “..its hard (for me) to tell when the tide turned (in relation to me) i (me) started paying attention (my attention, me again, hi) about how i felt about my feelings when i (me again) thought about something in relation to my life and meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
jesus christ can we get over yourself please?
but, Do not take it as an offensive gesture, just accept my emotions.
*cue wild chorus protestations and justifications, no comeback or acknowledgement whatsoever & then finally this gem: if you dont like it then leave* shoot the messenger whydontyou
^ what?
^^Tourette’s, ladies and gentlman.
i still can’t believe ‘ye produced this
I hope yall aint go to sleep while i was rappin dawg (c) Plies
real nigga speech
its not even that carter 3 is a disappointment
its that it’s not even good
2 out of 5 stars
the sheer fact that he fucked up the album with
a) a huge budget to obtain whatever producers he wanted
and
b) an enormous amount of raw talent
indicates to me that not only is he not the greatest rapper alive, but that he’s pretty much a child.
kanye needs to take him under his wing and teach this nigga how to craft an album asap before another disaster like this occurs
Hmm…nah, i’m good. You answered yourself, which leaves me to wonder, did you say that for the masses, JG…or yourself?
Not to say that those statements might not bear some truth, but I think they’re misguided as hell. I think you should probably read more of their writing & follow each writer before you critique their style.
And if you prefer objective criticism from those who write from a detached p.o.v. about the music…well, like I said, you answered that.
@AB – fuck wrong with you?
Yessir.

I’ve been listing to Wayne since he was a BG but never liked his flow until “Lights Out” and the “Lights Out” Wayne is the same Wayne up until “The Carter 2″ (just minus the Mannie Fresh beats) “The Carter 3″ Wayne, for better or for worse is trying to “grow” & do something different and I HAVE TO respect that.
As for this junt, hands down, Wayne did a MUCH better job telling this story on The Suffix’s “Dear Summer”
Signed. Sealed. And Delivered… Another Stevie song playing as Obama takes the keys…

the choice is yours.
i know this is a crazy metaphor but peep me out. The Carter three is like fucking your girl before she is your wife. You loving her, you fucking on the regular, you getting out your fantasies…blah, blah, blah.. you get in engage becuase is she like no other. Now You know your about to go on your honeymoon but you also know ain’t no more new tricks going on because you’ve been having fun all year long since you got serious with this girl. You pretty much been getting what you expected. You love your girl but to have sex with her is the norm. Their isn’t anymore anticipation, mysterious, or anything new to learn & no place to go. Because you’ve been beating it up all year long with no breaks your routine is down pat. Most of you who come to this site heard the majority of the album over the last year via mix tapes. But I truly believe a person who never heard anything but the two singles over the last two months will be impressed because everything they hear wayne doing is new, fresh and mind blowing but for us it’s the same old tricks and what was expected. My favorite songs on the album are the songs that I didn’t hear over the last year. So for us who been listening to all of his new material that he continued share with us we don’t experiance the greatness anymore we only lament on how wayne don’t do it like he used to or that he ain’t stepping it up enough with more substance in his songs. We all have various complaint. However, just because we got to experiance it before it really matter does not make the carter 3 less relavent or special. we just have to appreciate it for what it is. maybe it ain’t about what wayne is not doing on this album but more about where we are in our own desires for music consumption in this new digital age.So if wayne goes double platinum he will have earned classic album or at least a spot amongst the greats under is belt because he will have overcome more adversity, criticism, downloading, rumors, and bootlegging then any rapper in the history of hip hop. no artist will able to use the excuse that his album got pushed back or it got leak as an excuse for why they didn’t have success anymore.

@ Reggie.
All I can say is, it ain’t that deep homie. Not even the slightest.
And sales don’t make for classics. Impact of the songs do.

Yeah, it do be a lot of bangin ass women in DC though. Not like back in the motherland though. Man, when I first went back to Colombia, as soon as I got off the plane my neck was snappin’. It aint no joke down there.
Don’t worry, she aint gonna catch me. She despises TSS. Haha. She calls it “The Towel” She says she be gettin jealous cause I split screen her (on the webcam) and y’all. She’ll be alright.
Yo, what you need to try is Pollo Rico or Crisp & Juicy. That’s some good ass chicken! Like you never had in your life. Make a trip up to arlington one day. They got a Pollo Rico up there. THere’s only like 3 or 4 in the area. But Crisp & Juicy’s are everywhere. Both are pretty much the same. Crisp & Juicy gets my money though.
Holla back.
here’s how long I been here in the DC “uh-rea”
(for the record, I can’t fucking stand when people say the letter R, “arr-uh”…what the fuck is a “arr-uh”?)
I broke down and got me some Goadomes…the Nike Boots that Wale dedicated a song to
and it took this long for them Foamposites to grow on me…man, these DC bammas love them some Foamposites…and grey New Balances
I used to roll through Arlington weekly…I heard about them lines for them chicken joints, though…I’mma hafta remember that…I need some good-ass chicken in my life! haha…and some good ass from a chicken head
*does the worm*
*plays “Every Little Step” by Bobby Brown (the Kaing of Arr-uh & Bee)*

I only rock the ones you can get for 2 for $90 at the shoe stores. I can be a cheap mu’fucka soemtimes. That’s prolly why I haven’t gotten them Nike Boots yet. I don’t pay full price for shit!

peep this (swiped from http://thecyniclife.wordpress.com/2008/05/09/at-a-lost/#comments):
With virtually no fanfare, President Bush signed into law a plan ordering the government to take no more than six months to set up a “national contingency plan” to screen newborns’ DNA in case of a “Public Health emergency.”
The new law requires that the results of the program – including “information … research, and data on newborn screening” – shall be assembled by a “central clearinghouse” and made available on the Internet.
According to congressional records, S.1858, sponsored by Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., was approved in the Senate Dec. 13, in the House April 8 and signed by Bush April 24.
The bill, she said, strips “citizens of genetic privacy rights and DNA property rights. It bill also violates research ethics and the Nuremberg Code.
“The public is clueless. S. 1858 imposes a federal agenda of DNA databanking and population-wide genetic research,” Brase continued. “It does not require consent and there are no requirements to fully inform parents about the warehousing of their child’s DNA for the purpose of genetic research.
>>Maybe one day in the not so distant future people will not only judge each other by class, sex and color, but also what deficiency you may have in your genetic sequence. How great will that be. I can’t wait for those days to arrive.
I can see it now, “Hey babe how you doing, you looking righteous today…uhm any chance you’ve got your DNA scan tron on your person, I wouldn’t mind comparing stats. You seem like a match, but you can’t be to careful this days…They just discovered a new cancer gene in the lower helix…”.
It took eight years for your individual freedoms to be removed right from under you without anyone even noticing. And this last salvo by this administration (to include the House and the Senate) may have been the real dozy’.

Thanx Greums, but what song is it from?
Fly as beetlejuice, beetlejuice…

But thanks for that Sonja Blade ish, been lookin for it..

@ET….I guess this new law can go side by side with an older policy that many states have adopted.
Law enforcement collects the DNA of anyone who commits a felony and will “destroy” if the person is exonerated.
But don’t forget to read the fine print….it will be destroyed only upon when requested to do so.
is from a song on the GTA IV soundtrack Holy Thursday – David Axelrod

Aaight Greums, got it. it’s from his album “Song of Innocence” from 1968.

i just listened to Holy Thursday. Damn, Swizz Beatz! i didn’t know that u can call urself a producer when u just take a song and loop it without adding anything to it. at least he could have added some drums or some shit!!!
@ ters R.D
if u have a link cuz i don’t know his music.
peace homey.
All you fools in the DMV area & can’t nobody ever find me 5 panel caps even when i’m offering a finder’s fee?
**********************************************************
You still haven’t found that 5 panel yet G?
what was it, cloth strap, plastic buckle???
I forgot about the one I was gonna grab for you…I’ll check back at my spot sometime soon..
Hit me with the particulars again…
All these comments and no fuckin NERD!!! Damn.
@Stillwater
That’s why Just Blaze is the best sampling producer. He makes that beat his own.
I’m looking mainly for navy, but any “colored” ones – red, orange, regular Celtic green, purple anything. I’ve got all the military colors and some colored ones, but i need fresh ones.
NO brass buckle. That’s the hard part. Looking for the black strap w/the black plastic buckle. Not the leather strap & brass buckle b/c them shits will give you a constant, Slurpee type headache lol.
http://smokingsection.uproxx.com/TSS/?p=1300
You can see the strap i’m talkin about on the back of that olive green one.
@ Stillwaters R.D.
yeah, Swizz just got a check on that one. The only thing he f’d with was the sequence of the original….. a little bit.
@ Greums
track #2…. Holy Thursday
htp://rapidshare.com/files/14530768/VA_-_Dusty_Fingers_Vol.02.zip
@ Greumster: i don’t have any links, but imma try to put something up on RS. i’m sure u know his music, ’cause he’s been sampled a million times.
@ Rialc Nis Suirad: well i don’t know if Blaze is the best ’cause u should mos def add preemo & kanye to the list. but he’s nice when it comes to makin beats from samples
btw if it ain’t track #2, don’t spazz. I’m going off memory. It IS on there.
@ OED: it’s #10 hahaha
thanx for posting that
btw how u upload a whole album on RS? i got the Songs of Experience Album, but don’t know how to upload it. do i have to upload every song by itself? help a dummy out
yea, but cross the t maybe cross!
thx @oed
@stillwater
drop with Megaupload ! it’s better … i think.
but i only got an RS account. can i do it on megaupload without an account?
blaze do enormous sampled banger !
kanye can make soulful banger… game, twista…him!
primo makin’ hiphop banger, the in tradition !
Speaking of… anyone have Lord Digga’s “Price Is Right”?…
need that joint…thanx!
I meant “My Flow Is Tight”…
@stillwaters rd
i don’t know what are the formalities with an RS account ? but if u want make a link for an album, u can use zshare, megaupload too. go there http://www.megaupload.com/fr/ or zshare.com :
select your album, and upload. then a link arrives, after minutes. i don’t understand ya problem, homey
well the “problem” is that i have to upload every song by itself. anyways i just did that and i will post the link later (RS)
owh maybe i understand ya sh*t, so
htp://rapidshare.com/ or other site.
when u wanna upload an album. your album will have to be compressed with win.rar or zip … u see ?
if not u have the obligation to upload song by song.
so check win.rar.com
http://rapidshare.com/files/14530768/VA_-_Dusty_Fingers_Vol.02.zip
I know Im late as hell but… Hyattsville Stand up!
Tie My Hands is definitely one of the tracks that seems to stay on heavy rotation, but all in all, I’m in love with the entire album… never doubted Weezy one bit.
