“Wondering if that’s a sign of how I’m going through life.
A reckless abandon; an accident just waitin’ to happen.”
It’s rare that an artist pens a verse so excellent, so standout that I’m literally forced to reconsider my whole perspective on the musician.
Beanie Sigel seems to have mastered how to do this at least once in each album.
Almost as a stark reminder as to why I listen to him in the first place, he’ll always have a strategically placed verse or two that hit so hard, and so close to home, that I end up shrugging my criticisms away and throwing him back on the list of artists I thoroughly endorse.
In his most recent effort, he had several glimmers of genius, but none were as awesome as I would have otherwise expected. As the album drew to a close, I began to seriously doubt that he could or would deliver and my hopes faded. Almost on cue, Raheem DeVaughn’s vocals began to gently caress a slow and reflective beat as Sigel muttered a familiar prayer. I muttered along, praying this just might be that moment of truth.
And true to my prayers, it was.
The Broad Street Bully stabbed a quill into his heart and proceeded to spill ink and emotion all over the track, leading up to one of the most outstanding shows of lyricism in the second verse.
The verse sits the listener in the backseat of the car with Sigel as he begins to chauffeur it through his daydreams, thoughts about his family, his fears and regrets about his careless lifestyle, his sorrows and his fears of an impeding death, funeral, and gruesome afterlife….and then almost like hypnosis, the verse counts down as it winds down and the hi-hat almost snaps the listener back to reality.
Damn, Sig, you did it again. I’d like to see him top this one.

Nas ain’t the first rapper that will want titled his album “nigger” cuz in 2006, a french rapper called
Youssoupha has also wanted called his album with such a title: ” négritude” (niggerness), then a polemic intervened, much less important because not on television but which thus pushed the rapper to want to change into “my niggerness” then finally for same the reasons that nas definitively to change title of the album ” to each brother”. and especially for not that the bad people take again this title negatively whereas people fought to raise this term and this concept !

that first verse is pretty much just “what can i do?” from the fix.
i’m assuming thats what he was going for, but it doesnt sound like a trubute, sounds like an impression
My dude got “Feel It In The Air” as his ringtone.
“Dog why you call me right back?”
“Man, I just had to hear Beans again. I forget how ill he is until every time I call you” lol.
*throws The Solution out the window*
*keeps “Prayer” on iPod*
Yeah, Beans does just enough to justify him staying on your radar.
In today’s market it’ll be extremely tough for him to break through, but he has a lane & when he sticks to it we get songs like this.
Muhammed Ali took alot of L’s at the end if his career. Rakim last two albums flop& was shelved at aftermath, and michael jordan came off the bench for the wizards. Greatness is fleeting so we must enjoy it at it’s peek becuase once it’s gone it’s gone. Not to say Sigel was the best but when he was at his best he pushed Jay-z to be great and even made State property listenable.
True indeed, Beans always cooks up something from/for the soul. His problem is the same as many other talented artists. They get caught in the “what type of music will allow me to make money mode” and end up putting out garbage. I’m a fan but I wish he would just come out with music that HE wants to make. At the end of the day the artist are the ones that have to be satisfied with his/her material and too many of them are putting out music that will be long forgotten after about 2 listens (if that). Get back to the real
neone got taht feel it in the air freestyle by him
@Reggie Tearz…that’s a damn good analogy my dude.
Kanye’s vocoder performance…i saw it this morn…ugh.
The music Beans wants to make is gonna be some killer, rape your mom, put your grandmother in the trunk and drive her off the bridge, poison your puppies-type music. I remember that ROC freestyle tape and he got on Flex for playing intrumentals with flutes. Dude has a dark side that being a commerical rapper won’t let him drop.
And I remember the making of the “Throw Ya Hands Up” video, dude was gonna “stab” a dude on the set on the video shoot, with cops and guards everywhere. He’s a wreakloose.
LOL @ poison your puppies
hahahhaha
Strong co-sign, Contra…
“Nothing Like It” is still My favorite Beans song & “The Becoming” is about as close to a classic album as You’re gonna get. Weed, pills & syrup might have slowed Him down a lil bit, but when He really digs deep, there are few as ill as Sigel.
Yessir Mr. Dirk Diggahoe I do have that sampler.
It was that free disc that came with Hard knock life cd.
i was wonderin how the hell i came to have that cd….thanks for remindin me homie.

cut and paste that link.
Nothing like it is a favourite of mine as well.
Beans knows how to hit the right strings.
Reggie Tearz, damn you right.
How hasn’t Beanie blown? He’s had multiple albums, a ton of good songs, freestyles all that shit. I think he’s done pretty good.
FOr him Roc A Fella was a blessing and a burden. I really hope they make the Mac and brad album, no I Pray they make it, heh. Him and Styles P on You Ain’t Ready For Me is crazy too. Them 3 together would be incredible.
If you’re going to steal links and post them in the stray shots section, you should at least upload them on a different link so you don’t screw to person who spent all the time putting up the initial link.
