I’ll see your Keri & Polow and raze you a Kelis & Tim, Nasir…
PEACE
Polow dumbed the fuck out w/this beat. Straight Rickey Retardo.
1 for 4 still though.
this is garbage…nas is a shell of his former self…i expect so much more out of him after all this time…if this and the other singles are any indication, i’m not looking forward to this album at all…he’s got no ear for beats…he needs to stop making all these blanket statements without backing them up…kelis’ hair is too short…yadda, yadda, yadda, chitty chitty yap yap, gooney goo goo.
i see you g$.
Polow shoulda saved this one and most of his other work, outside of R&B hits, for his exclusive, executive production of the next Rich Bwoy album.
GET MONEY!
peace
dig it

=======================================
I don’t think there’s a better way to explain it…
He needs this effort for the rest of the album. He can do it…. it just depends on if he really wants to.
Shit is weak. At this rate, I’m not even sure if I’m gonna wanna even DL this joint when it leaks…Is this His radio concession? If so, I think He needs to try again. Beat is ok, but it doesn’t “Wow” Me like some pf Polow’s other works. Nas needs some real producers to bring out His best, & this ain’t it. Where’s Ye’, Preemo or 9th? Salaam coulda hooked up something better.
I dunno Amp, I’m kinda feelin’ this joint. Granted, it’s the ONLY one that’s replay worthy thus far.
Production for the album will include The Alchemist, Jermaine D, Salaam R, Will.i.am, DJ Khaled, DJ Khalil, DJ Toomp, Diddy & The Hitmen, No I.D., Stargate, Polow Da Don, Jay Electronica, Jake One, Cool & Dre, Stic.man of Dead Prez, possibly MF DOOM. Guest appearances confirmed by Nas are newcomer Jay Electronica, Dead Prez, Rick Ross, and D-Block.

I’m sure somebody prolly wants it lol.
OD ?
That Nas/Kelis reality show was canned (thank sweet baby Jesus).
I’d say Nas is 3 for 4. I mean, none of it is ground breaking. But it all sounds replay-able.

I thought the N.I.G.G.A. joint was alright. Polow & Nas seems like an oddball pairing from the gate & this song just sounds like a forced attempt at getting spins.
My word is law.
Final verdict: Tha Carter III = 4 cigs
nothing more, nothing less
I feel compelled to buy it when it comes out
sorry @nialc, just
was canned ! why no reality show so ?
^ Ditto. Anything less than 4 & You’re cheating Him. Anything over 4 & You’re giving Him too much credit. I’m definitely coppin’. “Shoot Me Down” is dope, I’ve been playin’ that one on repeat for the past 20 minutes heh. Hey, any thoughts on that new Plies? This Nigga done went & got R&B for real.
1st.Black President
2nd. Hero
2nd’ N!GGER
3rd.Be A N-Word Too (lol mtv pronunciation)…
…but the video will be the perfect complete for this third joint.

i’m cheating
I can roll with 4 cigs on “Tha Carter III”…. some of the joints that I didn’t feel at first have grown on me a little. I was still hoping that it would be better though.
I think “Dr. Carter” is my favorite. I’m really big on themes to songs, and that joint has an amazing theme IMO.
I’m a sucker for Kanye West production some times, and this album sucked me in on a few of them.
kanye’s beats are not amazin’ on that. it’s true!
like the album too. question of feelings

I haven’t heard that new Plies yet.
I was flipping through the recent issue of Complex w/ Common on the cover and they gave it a good review…but of course, a record review from THAT mag is something you gotta take w/ a grain of salt. Not saying that I’M qualified, but, y’know…
back to Weezy though…for the record, I’m not a Weezy hater.
I still stand by my opinion that when it comes to substance, “Mixtape About Nothing” > “Tha Carter III”
but C III is a more polished effort, and there’s more than enough varying sonic textures that give it replay value.
The album starts off real strong w/ the 1st 6 songs.
Weezy is the closest thing to a Ghostface/Kool Keith that we have right about now.
Yeah, I can cite more than a few times where Wayne has said something either so off the wall or wack(ed out) I’d shake my head…then chalk it up to that lean…lol
Maybe that lean is a gift and a curse…
I will say this though: dude is a 1 of 1. an insane genius maybe
and on those introspective / reflective tracks, he easily conveys some of the pain that may be the reason for the ever present cup of his.
not sure if already posted, but here’s the new NERD album (grouprip)
http://rapidshare.com/files/120625603/N.E.R.D_-_Seeing_Sounds-2008.rar.html
I’m not a Weezy hater either…matter of fact, I’m a fan. But the comparison to Ghostface made me want to do something violent…
Ghostface is the closest thing we have to Ghostface right now
No, Amp?? You don’t like the beat?? This may be the first time we don’t agree… I think the shit is pretty fiery. But I will say, I think Nas’ heavy vocals distort the beat a little. Maybe the mix is off, or maybe they just double-n-bubble-it a wee bit much?? You hearing what I’m hearing?
Thanks for the comment on the previous post, though, my friend. You’re on a permanent “Good People” list in my book.
^ well, i meant with that disjointed, off-kilter kinda style..with the non-sequiturs that are hit-or-miss for Weezy…but trust, when he hits, it’s on hit
I mean, I don’t see any reason to hate on Weezy if you also listen to MF Doom too….just different sonic backdrops
I’ve tried w/ the Wayne, and only 4 or 5 tracks aare still getting love… Low tolerance for gibberish, I guess.
The beats are sick though.
mixtape about nothing i need it, links please?
thank you

The first time I heard it, I was thinking to myself that it was a good concept. But when it was over I realized that the reason why he didn’t save the first two lives was because he couldn’t. He doesn’t have those qualities in him so how can he? The only one he does have and the one that everyone seems to think is so important in the game right now is “swagger”. And he manages to save the one that needed that quality in him. If he was the best rapper alive he would’ve been able to save all those lives that were mentioned in the song. I think deep down he subconciously knows this and thats why he structured the song that way. I don’t know. Maybe I didn’t word my explanation correctly. Just my opinion though. I’m not a Wayne stan or a hater. I just don’t see what all the hype is about.
*awaits backlash & fuming arguments as to why he IS the greatest rapper ever*

C~N~N – Hug The Block (song off tha new mixtape)
There’s a huge diff b/w Weezy and Doom. Listening to a Doom album is fun because he doesn’t take his ish too seriously. A witty line is treated as a witty line- no more, no les – same w/ Ghost for that matter. There’s a been there, done that, “yeah it’s dope, but I’m not overly impressed w/ myself” quality that keeps their music fun.
With Wayne, it generally feels like he’s trying to convince me that his stuff is reinventing the wheel or sumn, and just winds up sounding pretentious after awhile, which isn’t MY cup of tea.
With the recent release of her homegirl’s sextape Buckeey, its being rumored that former Flavor Of Love participant Bootz has a sextape in the wind somewhere. Details of this video are sketchy, but its being said that this video is much longer and is VERY explicit.
… “classy” …
I’m normally Mr. Anti-commercial, but I dig this song.
it’s not a “concession” as someone called it. This shit, off content alone, may not get any radio spins. We’ll have another “hip hop saved my life” moment.
and if it gets spins, we’ll all be celebrating together. So pipe down haters, & thank God it’s not just another heap of garbage.
Hmm…Plies dropped should choke on something sharp and poisonous. :-)
*folds laptop and boards plane*
Maybe the mix is off, or maybe they just double-n-bubble-it a wee bit much??
———————————————————————-
I think You’re right on both counts. Not really impressed now, but I’ll wait till I hear an official version & hear it in the context of the album.
LC, You know I’m holdin’ You down, Mama =) Say Hi to the haters for Me!
Ghostface is the closest thing we have to Ghostface right now
true story
First off, this Nas joint passes…but I want some more Thiefs Theme music!
I’ve talked to all the Weezy “dick riders” I know and they aren’t feeling this Carter III album. I predicted that though, 4 cigz maybe for the 4 songs I can listen to on the jawn! I’m anticipating everybody’s review of this album.
Maybe I shouldn’t have listened to Wale’s new ish before I listened to the new Carter?
DDMack. The fuck is up kicko? you been on the low.
& cosign Ghostface. That’s not even up for discussion.
so tight.
beat is insane
I think I just blew a warm goowey load!
hahaha ya’ll went a little hard to dude last week. substantive.beat raw. I’ll be bumpin this in 10 years for sure. fire
Hell must have FROZE over
Gotty said something positive about a Nas joint
LOL!!!!
lol
I didn’t know Nas was allowed to rap over something this hot.
I’m still holding thoughts til I hear & hold it in my hand though (yeah I will always buy a Nas album w/ or w/o hearing it first)
The first time I heard it, I was thinking to myself that it was a good concept. But when it was over I realized that the reason why he didn’t save the first two lives was because he couldn’t.
