When Cavalier approached me early this spring about planning for the Make Music New York summer concert series, I was excited about the prospect of seeing my favorite Brooklyn performers take over whole neighborhoods for their shows. Between Cavalier, The Dugout, The Project, Nuclear Family and Real Live Show, I’ve seen some spectacular live performances at notable venues all around New York City. They opened for Little Brother at Southpaw to an impressive crowd. The collective known as The Trifecta has been paying dues consistently in New York for over two years with the realization coming just on the precipice of summer. Nuclear Family and The Project each released records in the past year, playing off their digital marketing schemes to get spins on YouTube and college radio. But the strength of this movement has always been in its numbers. Check out the crews live in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg section with free food, shows and partying.
