When you find yourself in a long distance situation with someone, you face an arduous test. It’s a test of faith, a test of your resolve and strength that you have in order to keep trying to build a life with this other person.
There’s been moments where I’ve fought and cursed myself for being into someone so far away and not being able to do anything a regular couple can do together. I’ve literally had to catch myself from dialing her number for what seemed like the 300th time. When I’m in this kind of mood, the mood that makes you want to max out a credit card and take a red-eye with coffee in hand and passion on your mind, I find myself listening to Res’ “700 Mile Situation” off her first (and only) album, How I Do.
It’s as if listening to this song makes you turn your emotions inside out. Res makes this track a journey with soft vocals that make you believe she’s trying her best not to let her voice crack. And lines like “You leave so much behind that stare/Am I there with you?” just hit you in the gut like a medicine ball. Electric guitars and reggae-influenced drumming make this a reflective jam.
As I listen to it now, I think about my own situation and let it all go…if only for a few minutes.

Long-distance love is only for the strong of heart (and those who have faith in their partner); the ultimate test of love for anybody in my view. Ahhhhhhh…….the memories of past relationships that were hundreds of miles apart. I don’t regret none of that shit.
UNO…like the lakers

It was a done deal after that!!! She’s also quite sexilicious!!!

E.L Cool J. – listennnnnnnnnnnnn..!
Did that new coldplay leak yet?
Only do the long distance thing if you plan on getting married. Me and the missus were separated by 1700 miles, but we jumped the broom after a year. Being in a long distance relationship just to be doing makes about as much sense as holding your piss. Have an endstate.
tried it…
twice…. (sucks being hard-headed)
operative word… “tried”….
(and fcuk Rogers Wireless lol)
A friend knows/knew Res (I love that entire album btw), and apparently she had a dude in Atlanta, while she was in Philly. Hence the song title. I just used google maps and came up w/ 786 miles, so it sounds about right.
Great picture too.
Okay I’m done
@ OED: FUCK ROGERS WIRELESS 2 TIMES!!! lol!!!
Funny! I just put “If there Ain’t Nothing” in ipod rotation this week!

Res released her second album on her myspace a while back. It’s call Black Girls Rock.
I did a long distance relationship once.
I was 18. I was born and raised in VA, but I loved everything ATL, including OutKast and this girl from College Park.
We did long distance for 3 years, I moved 1700 miles to be with her (Army girl). Lived together for 2 years, had a child, asked her to marry me, about to jump the broom…
But, alas, I wasn’t the only one she was having a long distance relationship with, I was just the lucky one to move in with her.
My new rule? Live in my area code or forget about it.
Damn E Dot, saddest long distance story I’ve ever heard.
Hmm@ peachtree city, how i would love to suck on some of that sap, uhh it sounded good in my mind.
Yeah, it’s tough. I live almost 2,000 miles away from my wife. We still se each other everyday though. The internet is a wonderful thing.
You know she’s fucking the dude in the next cubicle eh?
etc,
cruel… uncalled for.
everybody knows the UPS man gets all the office booty!
“your silhouette is painted on the wall”
wow, takes me back a few years. that was my favourite song on the album for a while, glad someone wrote about it..
