The Jackson Estate

Going through Google Reader last night, making the rounds. I thought you guys might want me to save you a few precious minutes, so I wrote up the top ten like The Worldwide Pants Co.

Really, this is really only beneficial if TSS is your fingertips’ first stop.

If it isn’t, it should be. You read LC’s spit game with Blu and Ta’Raach yesterday, right? And Mundy’s Smoking Session with Konvict’s next to blow, Kardinal Offishall? Good.

Well, this makes up for all the exclusives.

• If a hanging contract with News Corp goes as planned, in 2009, Curtis will become one of the richest men in the entertainment industry. The laundry list says he’ll be the spokesman for MySpace music, have his own film studio, all his own publishing and a cool $300 Million to boot. Must be nice.

• In a few recent convos about his new album, now only referred to as ****** by most sites, Nas grabs at both ends of the spectrum. In this OnSmash Interview, he talks about working with Jay Electronica, stic.man and MF DOOM. While, in this MTV interview, he speaks on collabs with Rick Ross, The Lox and a new song through the P.O.V. of a roach.

• Instead of a dream wedding in Rikers Island like they’d planned, Remy Ma and Papoose got some bad news a few days ago. The ex-Terror Squad member got sentenced 8 years for her 2007 first-degree assault charge. Apparently, Pap tried to sneak in hand-cuff keys. SMH.

• As the biggest DJ Quik fan I know, or have met, DJ Skee has just made me insanely jealous with his latest blog entry. He speaks on chilling over at Terrace Martin’s crib, finding Quik’s personal SP1200 drum machine and a briefcase of discs. It ended up having his entire catalogue on it, complete with all the OG sounds sequenced for each one. Lucky sonofabitch.

• After saying it was dropping months ago, Big Boi finally gave some insight on his second solo album, Sir Luscious Left Foot, due in Fall. “It’s like a recession special. I’m talking about what’s going on in the world, with everything from rising gas prices to the election. It’s just my insights on life up to this point.” The album’s second single, “The World Is Too Big,” will feature Mary J Blige, while a video for “Royal Flush” is currently in the works.

• Crooked I finally dropped part three of his interview over at HipHopDX. He speaks on his past labels, problems with Big Snoop and fighting Kimbo Slice. We’ve been seein’ you over here at TSS, Crook, for real. Where’s our interview?

• On the non-rap tip, Everclear (the 90s alternative group, not Whitey Ford) have announced shows in Guantanomo Bay, in Cuba. It’s on a US Naval Base, so hopefully everything goes alright. If not, though, they could end up eating ‘cock sandwiches.’ Gross.

• Ciara’s next solo album, Fantasy Ride, will feature three discs. Each of them will be 5-6 songs, and have their own musical theme. The album drops in September.

• In the best news I’ve heard all day, Nate Dogg isn’t dead. After his MySpace page got hacked over the weekend, and claimed he’d passed, his manager has cleared up the situation, along with reassuring fans of Nate’s recovery from a stroke he suffered in late 2007. Get well Nate, we all miss those G-Funk Classics.

• Last, and purposely least, Cee-Lo Green and Jack Black have teamed up for a remake of Carl Douglas’s 70′s disco hit, “Kung-Fu Fighting.” It’s produced by The Underdogs, and it will be featured on the soundtrack to Kung Fu Panda. The Hudsucker Proxy comes to mind…”It’s for the kids!”
