We’re always talking about memorable moments in the history of this rap thing. One of the most memorable first appearances that’s rarely mentioned…
Outkast Featuring Goodie Mob – Git Up, Git Out
Cee-Lo’s verse.
Before he was singin’ with Danger Mouse, he was an integral & one of the more anticipated voices in the Dungeon Family. And with his bars on this one, he covered the disgruntled frustration that many teens and young adults feel as they go through life’s transitions. Please note that I didn’t section it off by race. All teens could relate & specifically remember my white dudes jammin’ to this song & noddin too, albeit not always on time.
Shoutouts to Cee-Lo Goodie. Thanks for gettin it in with this verse & blessing us with what’s been a memorable career.

Whaddup.
As always…RMF!!!

No doubt!
I don’t recall………… ever graduating at all……..
etc, etc
…and then freaked the hook for good measure.
So soulful.
Song ALWAYS puts a smile on my face…
Cee-Lo’s verse is my current ringtone…
1 of my fav songs eva.
i have bumped this joint @ least 1ce a week since 94
“I don’t recall, ever graduating at all/ Sometimes I feel I’m just a disappointment to yall…”
…has been the quote I’ve lived by since ’96. Hangs on the wall in my closet, matter of fact.
……..and hes killing it with gnarls barkley
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
another installment in the iron mic series

teef man, where you at? I need you to help me make sence of all this.
I was just listening to this whole album last week. Like 4 times front to back. This song got replayed a few times.
“albeit not always on time.” – Right over everyone’s head. haha. Good ish, G.
Ahhh, the good ol days when Cee-Lo used to be a sick MC instead of warbling like a water buffalo errrrrrr singing.
“You need to get up, get out, cut that bullshit out, ain’t You sick & tired of havin’ to do without…”
“Cause every job I get is cruel & demeaning, sick of takin trash out & toilet bowl cleanin’…”
Perfectly captures the struggle of the blue collar worker…regardless of race. This joint has always been My anthem…anytime I feel Myself slackin, I throw this joint on & try to keep pushin’. I miss Goodie Mob, for real. For that matter, I miss the the whole Dungeon Family.
“Come & getcha Soul Food….”
Yup.
100% real talk.
Other favorite cee-lo quotable
“But every now and then
I wonder if the gate was put up to keep crime out or to keep our ass in”
I liked his verse on big boi’s Reset a lot. Wish he rapped more than crooned nowadays: here’s to you Mos and Pharoahe.
In lighter news I’m mad hyped about James Pants’ album on tuesday.
mr. cee-lo green
is da ish !!! CEE-LO is also fuckin’ name !!!
a body of a big leprecheums (greums mind, modifications are the new reality)
but a soul (of) genius.
Hip-hop pioneer `Slick Rick’ pardoned by N.Y. gov
New York Gov. David Paterson is granting a full and unconditional pardon to rapper Ricky “Slick Rick” Walters for the attempted murders of two men in 1991.
The pardon is expected to halt efforts to deport Walters to the United Kingdom, the country he left as a child.
The eyepatch-wearing star behind the ’80s rap classic “La-Di-Da-Di” served more than five years in prison after the shooting of his cousin and another man. Both survived.
The governor says Walters is now a rap artist and landlord in the Bronx who hasn’t had any criminal problems since his release from prison in 1997. He also says Walters has volunteered to counsel youths against violence.
@ petey, iron mic (show)… it’s on tv or just internet.
that what is it? it’s a trick to make fun, laugh on people really thinking of having a talent or what of other thing ?
Oh Please
Of course I could slice some O-Z’s
but I consider myself one of those aspiring MC’s
bills are due and at times im doubtful and everyone disagrees
but I rather struggle on my feet than to live on my knees
============================================
too many Cee lo quoteables…I could be here all year!

@BEZ
Yeah, “In Due Time” was a good song. It came off of the Soul Food soundtrack. It definitely got a brother through hard times.
