I prefer the portable joints. Best Buy has the portable 250GB for $120 and the portable 320GB for $160 i think. I paid $110 for my 120GB a year ago so the prices are definitely dropping.

Gas is Four effin’ bucks out here in SoCal. It’s sick people. Also hit the quatro in my second home of Chicago. Not that anybody notices–too busy duckin’ bullets to pay attention to gas and food prices.

I don’t understand why your hard-drives are failing on you guys; I’ve had mine for two years and it’s still kicking. If you keep it in one place and don’t lug it around to your homies crib then you should be alright, plus don’t leave it on unneccessarily and shut it down properly after each use. Fuck it, I’m copping a 5TB drive next month!!!

I got a 500 GB Seagate internal back in Feb with 32 MB cache (compared the standard 16 MB). The speed is crazy. Good for making beats.

i use the TB 90% of the time, and keep it all backed up on the 2 400s and the 180…i’ve got most of my music backed up on 82 DVDs but i got another 120 gigs to back up as soon as i find time…

@ Doug Fresh: Nah man, a looooooong time ago (like a month, lol!!!) I remember some TSSers having problems with their drives crashing. I just couldn’t understand why it was happening so frequently.
don’t even count on those WD 250 GB portable joints or the 500GB MyBooks to keep up… I’ve gone thru 3 of them… lost my whole itunes library on the 500 GB from my pc… went with the 250 GB portable and it wiped out as well running off my laptop… strictly use for backup purposes not as an external hardrive where to run your files off of…
To this day, I’m really not sure how I got the 1 TB for $127. I think it may have been an instore misprint. It SURE wasn’t in the papers! I got lucky…
thanks Gotty; copped two. As far as backing up to dvd’s; typically u fit just under 50 albums, so 45-48 depending on multidiscs etc. They say they’re 4.5gb’s but they usually only fit about 4.3. I then save my data dvd’s into mpeg audio collection. So you have a searchable database and know whats where.

the flash drives are convenient and getting relatively cheap too. Micro Center had 4GB’s for $15, up to 16GB for $60.
